He played two games and let in eleven goals. Doh

We should have had Terry Dolan on the bench, he'd never have conceded that many.

He certainly didn't in 2 games v Brum when Latchford was on his goalkeeper's legs breaking run.

It's a happy birthday today to King Carlos. Our Head Coach, Carlos Corberán is 39 today, having been born in Cheste, near Valencia in 1983.

His 38th birthday last year would've been a bad one after we had just got pumped 7-0 at Norwich, but this birthday should be one of high jollity as the magnificent Terriers lie 3rd in the Championship table, looking nothing like the shower of shite he was in charge of this time last year.

Also having a birthday today, having been born on the same day and the same year as Carlos, is young Jon Stead. He was born in Huddersfield, but like Carlos, is coaching in a foreign land. Steady is in America, coaching at Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Most of us will be old enough to remember his goals in the 03/04 season that led to his big money transfer to the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers. But how many other players return to watch their old team at a Play Off Final, from the actual subs bench?

He scored 27 goals for us, including the winner against Leeds in his second spell here and his career total was 165, before retiring last year.

On the pitch, one result stands head and shoulders above the rest. It was played at Leeds Road on this date in 1953. The opponents for this 2nd Division match on Easter Tuesday were Everton, who had been relegated a couple of seasons ago. Town had been relegated in 52 and this was the 2nd meeting in two days, after Town had been beaten 2-1 at Goodison the day before.

Town got their own back, and how, in an 8-2 win, with Jimmy Glazzard leading the destruction with four goals, each one a header from a Vic Metcalfe cross. It was Jimmy who set up the first goal though, for Willie Davie, who had been recalled to the starting line up. That was after 4 minutes. After 12, it was 2-0 and Glazzard got his first of the day, a huge leap, high above the Toffee's goalkeeper, which gave us the iconic image below. His second on 33 minutes made it 3-0 before Vic added a goal of his own just before half time to make it 4-0 at the break.

After half time, it was 5-0 as Glazzard completed his hat trick in the 48th minute and then Alistair Gunn made it 6-0 a minute later. Future Town star striker Dave Hickson then pulled one back for Everton, but Tommy Cavanagh made it 7-1 and Glazzard made it 8-1 in the 73rd. Hickson then completed the scoring in the 82nd minute to leave it at Huddersfield Town 8, Everton 2.

A crowd of 30,721 turned up to see this. Town stayed 2nd in the table, a position they had held since mid November to the end of the season, behind Sheffield United. Everton finished 16th, below the likes of Lincoln City, Doncaster Rovers, Rotherham United and Plymouth Argyle.

Well I'm glad we're not playing tonight. We haven't registered a single goal in the last 5 games played on this date. That includes 2017 when we lost 2-0 at the City Ground against those Tricky Trees.

After a poor first half, David Wagner changed the formation at half time, bringing on Joe Lolley and Dean Whitehead, but another defensive mistake let Forest in for a second and the game was gone

This defeat really put the tin hat on the automatics, leaving us 10 points behind second placed Newcastle. Still in 3rd though, above Reading in 4th (who lost 7-1 at Norwich), Leeds in 5th and the Wendies in 6th.

Leeds were a good 5 points ahead of 7th placed Fulham and with just five games left, that West Yorkshire Play Off was very much still on the cards. Whistle

Forest moved up to 19th and were still in the thick of the relegation battle.

No such problems in another promotion campaign, on this date in 1980. This was my one and only trip to Feethams, to see our free scoring 4th Division side, under the management of the marvelous Mick Buxton, play Darlington. I'd missed the trip up there when we drew them in the FA Cup earlier in the season. That was a 1-1 draw, then they pulled off a bit of a shock by beating us at Leeds Road in the replay.

This time though, we won. It was a topsy turvey game, if I remember rightly that we came from behind to win. Steve Kindon scored from the spot and Brian Stanton scored as well, but the winner came from an own goal by the Darlo centre back, Derek Craig.

After this one, Town were still in 2nd place, still trying to catch Walsall.

I've 3 games attended on this day and funnily enough they all had the same score line

1995
Town 2 v 0 Swansea
Two goals From Gary Crosby giving Town the 3 points to send us to the top of the League with just 5 games remaining of the season
Att 10,105

1996
Norwich 2 v 0 Town
Robert Fleck and Adeola Oluwatoyin Akinbiyi scoring for Norwich
That left Town sitting pretty in 6th in the League
Att 13,021

and finally that game mentioned by M'Lord above
2017
Forest 2 - 0 Town
Att 20,411

Akinbiyi came to us on loan in his early Norwich days. Scored 2 in 4 games and was always destined to go onto bigger and better things.

We always get stuffed at Carrow Road, so a 2-0 defeat don't seem too bad.
I've only been once and it was a 4-1 loss and we got piss wet through.
And it's a long way back.
Glad I didn't go last season.
