Enjoyed that!! Wasn't the best performance we have seen this season but it was probably the game where we controlled it from start to finish the most. We never looked like conceding and with a bit more luck and better passing could have scored more. Very good win though.

My ratings:

BPF - 7, nothing to do for most of the game but hedidn't put a foot wrong when he was needed, Generally good distribution as well.
Storey - 8, we need to sign him permanently if we haven't already, Solid on the floor and in the air, good distribution and gets forward when the space is there.
Hutchinson - 8, so good to have him back, he is just simply solid in everything he does.
Palmer - 6, weakest link in the back three but easily good enough for this league. Expect him to lose out when Iorfa is back which is the right move but slightly unfair on him.
Hunt - 8, I think he has been very good down the left for a few games now and again he was probably our best outlet when going forward in the first half.
Byers - 9, for me he was our man of the match, he got a crucial early goal and he gets stuck in and never stops running. Alongside Luongo, they allow Bannan to get forward more and I don't remember one time Bannan had to come back to take the ball of one of the center halves because no one else could.
Luongo - 7, quiet game for him and certainly not his best but he breaks up play so well and just makes the simple pass.
Bannan - 6, I thought he was just ok today. Made some nice through passes but also missed a few and his set pieces were well below par most of the time.
Johnson - 7, quiet first half aside from the run and cross for the second goal but did more in the 2nd half with them getting tighter on Hunt on the other wing. Best crosser we have at the moment.
Paterson - 8, could have been my MOM, was everywhere, gets stuck in constantly and he must be a nightmare to play against. Wins so many headers and chases down everything. Deserved his goal and we have seen a lot of players who wouldn't have been there to tuck in the cross. Deserves to keep his place until Gregory/Windass are back.
Berahino - 7, you can see the football skills he has, some great turns and flicks. Just felt like he wasn't on the same page as the rest of the team at times, particularly when he was making runs and he get muscled off the ball too easily. But until we get our strikers back from injury he is probably our best choice alongside Paterson.

Kamberi - 5, didn't see anything from him to suggest he should start.
Gibson - 6, defensive sub from Moore, good to see him back, looked solid.
Brennan - 6, not on long, didn't do anything wrong and again good to see him play.
Sow - not on long enough to give a score to.

Agree with most of that Chaz but Paterson was my MOM. He also made some great runs without the ball that pulled the defence in different directions and, as you said, chases everything and won't allow himself or his team mates to be bullied. You don't really get to see that sort of stuff on the telly. I can now see why DM keeps picking him Cool He's a gobby xxxx n'all and doesn't let his mates relax either Cool

Patterson needs to be consistent though this is the problem and the other is missing 3 or 4 a game when somebody else might score at least one of them misses ! He also in some games when it hasn't gone our way with the referee not been intelligent enough to stop giving free kicks away .

It's a difficult one Imre Confused until we get a 25 goal a season striker, on today's showing, I think I'd rather have Paterson in the starting line up because that somebody else might not bring the fight and enthusiasm of CP which often created most of the chances anyway Cool

Interesting that as we move into the next match ...Burton lost at home today playing our formation of 3-5-2 against Shrewsbury who played a 3-4-1-2 ... something to consider if we want to get the game over with by HT and not run into a team bus parked up like at Doncaster .
I think this would give Patterson a different role as well and take the pressure off ...in the hole Berhinio might shine ?

Point being we must have a plan B for promotion at the moment we don't have this with Moore who I still think is the worst manager Ive ever seen at Hillsborough in question of tactics ... It's no good getting all the way to the playoff final and losing because we all know that it counts for flip all the season after for most teams .
And remember we will have a new squad next season whatever the division we are in due to what chansiri mentioned under the radar last week ...it is critical that we go up because if not we will be down sizing again with even worse players than we have ! If that was possible ?

I agree with the missing 3-4 chances, but he isn't that sort of striker, he needs to play alongside a goalscorer and I am not convinced Berahino is that. I still think he would play best with Windass next to him but as a No9, Gergory is better, so I see him as a stop gap until they are back. He didnt give any stupid free kicks away today but he had to be close to a booking with his arguing with the ref.

As Maddix said, he is one of those players that creates space and chances for others and he is a complete team man. Lets hope he stays consistent.

The way we are playing at the moment and have been for a while now, I don't care what the opposition do, we have to beat the teams below us and we are good enough to do that. Maybe we need better tactics against better teams but we have done well so far against most of the top teams anyway. 4th place is up for grabs with our games in hand and if Wigan continue to strugle that second auto spot could come into contention, but we have to keep winning.

Next six games are:

Burton (H)
Lincoln (A)
Cambridge (H)
Accrington (H)
Gillingham (A)
Cheltenham (H)

All of these are winnable, not likely that we will do that so a minimum of 4 wins and a draw would see us still in contention.

Next six are all winnable. This is Wednesday though but 6 wins in 7 is remarkable for us.
If we stay fit and keep doing what we're currently doing theres no reason we can't finish in the playoffs. We'd be second if we hadn't pissed points away

Leeds have done a pig choke and sacked Bielsa the most successful Leeds manager of the last 30 years pmsl ..
We could be looking at the biggest contingent of Yorkshire clubs in the championship for a long time ? Cos these mugs are definitely going down now I'd put my pension on it !!
And the most laughable fact is they will lose all the players they have now and will struggle in the championship !
