Well what a difference a fortnight makes. Was it really only two weeks ago that we were so shite that we got stuffed 5-1 at home?
This was something completely different.
Nicholls had another easy game, but he does look very assured at what he does. And that calms the defenders down a bit as well, knowing he's not going to pass the ball straight to one of theirs and so they have to be on the back foot all the time.
Pearson, Lees and Colwill never looked troubled. Young Levi striding forward like he's Beckenbauer.
If only we could've got the ball to Sorba more often in that first half. He had acres of space, kept making the runs but the ball never came. When finally it did come, it was 1-0. O'Brien scoring, ironically having had his worst bit of play of the season, giving the ball away willy nilly. Fortunately, Reading are a pale shadow of last season's side.
Second half we were awesome. A bit similar to the start to the second half against Swansea last season. Yet again, another superb set piece from Thomas and a tap in for leading scorer, Matty Pearson. Then he goes on a run from the halfway line, beats a few men and bangs the ball in the net. 3-0. Happy days. Has there ever been a more deserving scorer than Sorba Thomas?
And then a couple of minutes later, Koroma was too strong for the weak 'Ding right back and he laid it on a plate for the hard working Danny Ward, who instead of blasting it at the advancing keeper, took a touch and buried it.
4-0. What a performance. So much so that I've forgotten to mention Sinani's free kick in the first half that smacked against the post. What a goal that would've been and despite a few loose passes from him, he should be a definite starter for the next few games.
What a stupid time to have an international break!
