#1
This week saw the European Junior Curling Challenge being played, where the 2 winning teams qualify for the World Championships to be held in Tallin, Estonia from 28 February to 8 March.

In the Womens event, the England team of Hetty Garnier (skip), Angharad Ward (third), Naomi Robinson (second) and Lucy Sparks (lead) supported by Niamh Fenton (alternate) won by demolishing Turkey 9-1 in the final after only 6 ends. They had won their section comfortably, winning 8 games and losing 1.

The triumphant England team arriving home.

The English Mens team fared less well, winning only 2 of their 5 Section games, thereby failing to qualify for the later stages. Russia won the event.

Brilliant. Bet that doesn't happen very often.

First time at the Juniors, Amelia. They'll be a welcome addition to the top echelon.

If we could get on in the game, we might stand a chance of getting some curling coverage on TV. They must know there is interest in it even if it only dawned on them at the last Olympics.

Tried watching the Curling Championships on Eurosport before Christmas. The coverage was a bit all over the place and it just disappeared before I got to see who won. Never saw a final. The BBC should get a proper sports channel and show more curling if it's true what they said at the Winter Olympics and they do actually #lovecurling.
Even a wee highlights showing like they have with Ski Sunday would be something. At the moment it's nothing for 4 years and then they go potty about it.
Anyway, nice to see the Winter Sports section taking off. Nice one, Ritchie. Thumb up
