Driving at silly speeds is bad enough but doing it after having a few drinks is hopelessly stupid.
Add this to the fact that this is a professional athlete who shouldn't be drinking anyway, and you probably multiply that stupidity by - well, several.
SB won't be the first little flash twat that does this, and he won't be the last. These correction courses that such people have to attend usually as part of their sentence are meant to be pretty strong and effective, showing the results of drink driving pretty graphically.
Having done 30 years in the Fire Service I've seen a lot of such mayhem and really hope that SB learns this lesson fast and grows up a bit as a result; the impact of playing/not playing for a while is of little significance IMO compared to the wider issue.

Interesting he has not been charged (judging from the reports) with speeding. He is a very lucky boy if they are not going to charge him with that, in excess of 100 mph while under the influence.

What on earth is the matter with him? sniffing gas, late for games, punch ups with fellow players, driving pissed at 110 mph. He's on a self destruction course. What a talent, but what a twat, some needs to have a serious word.£20m? if he gets a reputation like he's heading for he won't get his big money move,do we sell him in this Jan remains to be seen.If we do let him go,then we must make sure we have a replacement ready because he is our best striker by far at the moment. Will Nabir and Roofe be able to come in? Hope so.

And was it games he was late for or training?

Saido Berahino has pleaded guilty to drink driving at North Cheshire Magistrates Court. He's been fined £3,400 and banned for 12 months #wba

That's one more thing dealt with. Now please, please grow up, Saido.

Yes bloody well grow up.He has got off quite lightly too IMO,Only time will tell whether he takes the hint and knuckles down and becomes the player we all know he could be.If he does get moved on to BIG club,i fear the worst for him the temptations will be a lot more to the front i think.More money, other players that play the big time charlies. It could all go pear shaped for him.But only he can change the situation.

Confirmed by the BBC. I can see a club statement coming out soon to the effect of "Saido is sorry etc"
Everyone moves on, or tries to.

Judging by the standard of their PR efforts recently, "Saido is sorry etc" might actually be the club's entire statement word for word

Think he got off very lightly, as I said here or on another thread, minimum ban for DD certainly locally is 18 months
