1) I'd say at least 75% of band names are more than a little odd when you think about them - The Doors (huh?), The Strolling Bones, even The Beatles.

One of my favourite bits of music trivia is that REM were originally going to call themselves Cans Of Piss, but decided against it when they realised they wouldn't be able to say the band name to their parents. Probably just as well, because I'm not sure Shiny Happy People or Everybody Hurts would have had quite the same impact coming from Cans Of Piss.

Funny name and I don't think they played at The Palladium or anything.
