Last weekend's 2-0 victory over Luton, while not as comfortable as we might have hoped, was the necessary result to stop the six-week rot. The key now is to turn that success into another run of form, which may prove a far bigger challenge considering our opposition in the coming week, as the fixture list dispatches Albion to two grounds where points gained are traditionally few and far between.

Sunday afternoon takes us down to Millwall, on whose turf we're without a win since Ron Saunders led us to a 1-0 victory in April 1987. Last year we were convincingly beaten at The Den, and a good season for the Lions so far has them just five points off the playoffs, brimming with confidence and attacking threat. Then on Wednesday we visit the Madejski Stadium, where we're still yet to win a football match ever; a piece of trivia I seem to trot out every year, with the depressing suspicion that it'll remain true next year as well.

On paper, you'd say that two draws from these unhappy hunting grounds would be a decent return. But given the context of the promotion race and the need for both points and momentum, I think at least one win must be the target for this week, even if we lose the other game. It's about time we changed our luck at Reading or Millwall: let's make it happen.

I never believe that the fact that 'Team A hasn't beaten Team B at Ground C for 88 years " has any relevance to an upcoming game..... unless, of course, the current manager/HC is constantly drip feeding his players with the fact. And if he is, why would he want to focus on on both the past and a negative?
I'm sure this sort of thing is only pedalled around by the media and then the fans; I'm equally sure that SB won't give it a minute's thought.
So therefore neither am I....... 2-0 to us with a new momentum beginning to build!!

There is, on the other hand, every chance that those behind the scenes at the opposition also know the fact, and use it to gee up their players. I've seen at least one ex-pro say that word goes around a dressing room when your club has a hoodoo over another, and you feel it's on you to keep that going at whatever cost. It's a psychological boost.

No more excuses - I don't know how many times I've heard "they're on a good run"
We simply have to take 3 points against Millwall. if nothing else it will boost our confidence and send a message out to the chasing pack.
I can't even think about what a loss would do.
