The Trojans!!! In Staveley?
#1
So Levi Amantchi who we were hoping might end up as first team centre forward is being loaned out to Staveley MW. Couldn't we have found him a game in a lower standard of football? Couldn't Matt have got him a kick around in the Hope Valley?

By the way Ricky German is currently coming on for the odd two minutes for Crawley. Will I ever be able to convince anyone he's a player you either start, or leave at home to watch Final Score. Twenty goals before Christmas at Hendon seems to put his career back to exactly where it was with us.

Charlie Wakefield gets to play against Ilkeston but no one else much.

Joe Rowley can now only be sighted in a rear-view mirror.

Don't know what we've got lined up for Sharman, but he should steer well clear of Laurence Maguire in case he too falls victim to the semi-permanent sick-note syndrome.

We need more than a manager don't we?

We have a manager Dev and one who knows the players limitations and seems to have found the workers and shirkers. If he keeps us up he deserves a crack at it next year IMO. Levi Is very much in the mould of German - good one minute and very average the next 60. There is a player in there but 6 months under Sheridan will take some shifting. We need battlers and fighters at the minute, he just isn't that type of player.
We needed players to be signed in summer but ended up with the most lop sided team ever and no midfield. Pemburton knows the teams limitations and will get it right. He plays football not hoofball so at least its good to watch.

Staveley!

He was better than that two years ago. Look how many players we take to the verge of the first team then carefully progress them backwards. And we aren't alone in doing it either.

They can't all be wastrels and ne'er do wells.

Could help them get promoted as they are near the top of the league. He did very well at Blyth who are just a division below ours so It's very odd that he's not been given a chance in the first team, he could become the next Eoin Doyle and score 30 a season.

I think it boils down to coaching and also the individual. There are clubs who have good youth teams and academy's and they bring through their players into the first team and they eventually sell them on for a few £££££££.

At least its close enough to see how he's doing. I bet nobody from CFC ever went anywhere near Blyth when he was playing. He's going to a good winning team. If he scores loads it will do his confidence the world of good.
Lets just suppose Staveley go up as champions which looks highly likely and we go down (highly possible), how many leagues between the 2 teams then?

Levi like any young player needs to feel he is making progress and it will be obvious to him he is slipping backwards.

I don't think he did do particularly well at Blyth. He was mostly on the bench and the team was mostly losing.

The one thing I do agree with you on is that scoring goals at any level helps a forward ….. and he isn't a natural goalscorer at the moment. And he is better at Staveley than nowhere which is what we seem to have on offer (and one of the first things Pemberton or anyone else needs to change).

It just distresses me to see that as a club we seem to have no idea of the tiers into which football is divided. We took Ricky German up and down the tiers at random on loan and now we're doing the same with Levi. We took Ricky who was a committed captain and best player in our Junior side and turned him into a player who didn't know what was expected and wanted away.

It is a sad commentary that you are probably right that no one went up to watch Levi at Blyth ……. so if we can't travel that far how do we ever recruit promising players coming through at places like that. Pembo travelled 50,000 miles for Kidderminster - Sheridan managed Proact to home and back. He wouldn't have gone to Staveley anyway. The truth is we should be watching sides like Staveley, Ilkeston, Buxton and Matlock as well as going further afield to Warrington, Spennymoor and Stamford ……….. but ...….. We haven't grasped that we need to recruit players on the cheap, but the cost is hard work behind the scenes.

I'd bet next months pension (retired spendthrift) that we do take an interest in the likes of Staveley, Ilkeston, Buxton and Matlock now.

Levi couldn't even get a full game for Staveley and Luke Rawson is off to Handsworth. Apparently we tried to send Charlie Wakefield to Brampton Rovers, but they wanted a player who could get in their team. We didn't have one.
