League Cup semi-final: Hibs v Celtic, Sat 2 Nov, KO 5.30pm

Well this is an unusual semi-final in the fact that lotsa Hibs fans rate our chances as zero, thousands not buying tickets for good reason and add to that the fact that most Hibs fans are bemused that Heckingbottom had not followed Levein "oot the ER front door"!!!
So how do Hibs and Hecky go about winning this game? IMO they don't as we don't have the "tools" or tactics to win it and if we do achieve the impossible, it will indeed be a miracle after observing the events at ER in the 2-2 draw v Livingston. The team is so fragile defensively and our STRIKERS ARE STILL NOT SCORING GOALS AFTER MONTHS OF TRYING!!!! We must at least try to be defensively tight and I'd personally like to see a goalie change and return Rocky "between the sticks". I'm also tempted to move Porteous to an "anchor role" in front of our back four because our midfield is not set up to defend properly in the formation that the manager prefers. The mid players are generally attacking players who need some "muscle" behind them to protect the Hibs defence anyway. I'd also appoint Porteous as Hibs captain because the lad plays and prompts like a proper captain "playing for the shirt" and "gives his all" in a Hibs team that currently has few "leaders". Two up front or Hecky's preferred one up front that disnae work? Well it is a cup tie and a match that Hibs must try to win with some kinda plan in place v a Celtic team that is unbeaten in 29 consecutive cup ties!! Could it bizarrely end up in a pk shootout? I doubt it but I'd take it and wonder what are the betting odds re that kinda outcome.

I'd like LD to tell us why this dipshit has been given a 3 year deal ?

He's an atrocious manager, the team has zero belief.

The way it is going with Leeann Dempster, I can see her following Heckingbottom oot the ER front door if the dithering continues in the way that it has continued with total disrespect to the fans! IMO the upcoming AGM is gonna be "colourful"!!! Absolutely no doubt about it and I reckon Dempster and others will be trying to avoid such embarrassing scenes. Hence the deferment in even announcing a date for the AGM!

I expect this to be a demolition today we have not beaten Celtic in a cup game at Hampden since 1973-1974 and cannot see that changing today, hopefully Shittinbottom gets shown the door and gets his taxi back down to Yorkshire. Ron Gordon has to be clear on his plans for Hibs alot of silence and not enough explanation.

Ahhh! Now that was a memorable final that I attended - led by a legendary manager and with a great Hibs team at that time and during a period when Hibs humiliated Hertz at Tynecastle by a record 0-7 score line - a legendary New Year's day match!!

Celtic could have had 10 the night, but we did at least show some fight and played some good stuff in places in the 2nd half.

The managers decision making is awful, the team are clearly uncomfortable with the set up. Heckingbottom is a horrible, arrogant fool. His interviews prove that. He will never change his approach.

God knows what the board see in this imposter of a manager.

We lost 5 goals at Hampden tonight and it could've been 10 goals!! And then Heckingbottom found out again that 4-4-2 works better and it kinda "released" certain Hibs players BUT TOO LATE BY THEN!!! Also I reckon we would not have lost 5 goals if Maxwell had been replaced by Rocky as suggested in my OP - that was IMO a wrong call, one of many, and Heckingbottom should be removed - NOTHING HAS CHANGED BECAUSE HE HAS DONE THIS BEFORE AND NEVER APPEARS TO LEARN FROM SUCH CHANGES!!! I, and lotsa other savvy Hibs fans, am not fooled by tonight's events where Hibs showed some positive moments in the game. IMO we have the players to set up as a decent team but we have the wrong manager as well sussed out months ago.

Such a strange side we are at the moment, we looked decent for 15 mins in the second half but we were 4-1 down at that stage, Doidge and vela are a complete waste of a jersey in my book and we got better when they left the play. I might be wrong but it looked like mallan was playing out wide ? I mean WTF ?

Way too passive in the middle of the park, aimless pass after aimless pass. You can't do that with teams like Celtic. I didn't think Maxwell looked too clever in places either.

Totally scunnered with Hibs the now. Chris Sutton was right when he said the manager had to take responsibility, no chance of that though. He is causing huge damage to the club and is just too arrogant to accept it.

His post-match interviews are actually watched by many critical Hibs fans who regard him and his unimpressive comments akin to the "stuck record" syndrome - a f###### joke and yet he persists in talking this shit - did the same after yesterday's semi-final and impressed nobody again!! And yet Dempster still "sitting on her hands"??????
