We have reached the business end of the season where the style of play or the performance don’t matter, its now all about the points only!!! An ugly win is still a win!! My intro will become transparent as I go through the scores this week!! One interesting fact this week is that every predictor picked up the extra point on the score ball, probably the first time that has happened this season.
Finishing first this week is Derby, a rare table topping display from him saw him gain 14 points by scoring on 6 of the ten games. Unfortunately for him he missed on his Gamball and Bonus ball or else he could have set a record for an individual week!! Sliding into 2nd spot was BBB, another solid week from him saw him end with 13 points, again scoring on 6 games but he was also the only person to score positive points on the Gamball. Two points behind on 11 is Worldclass, scoring a CR on the Bonus and scoring points on 5 games.
In joint 4th place is Beefy and SCO, both with 10 points and identical records in terms of scoring games and ball playing!!! 6th place went to Matt, who like Derby scored points on 6 games but only got one spot on score but did pick up a CR on the Bonus. One point behind on 8 points in 7th spot is Sanjay, like most others he was hampered by missing on the Gamball and BB.
Now we reach the reason for the opening paragraph, the likes of Beefy and BBB are trying to chase down the leader and won ugly this week, whereas our league leader Zinman ended up in 8th place but on a paltry 3 points only!!! He only scored on two games, neither of which were the Gamball or bonus and the points disparity between him and the chasing pack will have take a L**ds sized hit once Bomber produces the table!!!
Last but by no means least we have our friendly relegation threatened Terriers. Snooty finished on 2 points and continues to stoically predict Huddersfield wins, and continues to get them spectacularly wrong but I do feel he is sacrificing his position in the PL because of his blind love of his beloved team!! Unfortunately for his better half Amelia, she simply didn’t show up at all this week so gets a zero, but again I think thats an accusation they have thrown at the team a few times this season so she can be forgiven for missing a week!!!
The last few weeks of predictions may just have become more interesting with these scores!!!!!
Cheers
SCO
It’s game on in the Premiership title race with 2 weeks to go, 20 matches to predict and just 12 points separating the top 3, one of which will be crowned Premiership champion.
Our leader for the last 7 weeks, Zinman is either showing signs of pressure or the challengers are hunting him down as his lead was cut to just 6 points by Beefy who gambled with the Gamball and…………………… lost, not playing it would have meant another 3 points closer. It’s the same 6 point deficit back to BBB who makes up our trio of potential champions.
St Charles is possibly too far back in 4th, but did pass the triple hundred mark for the season to keep those above him on their toes and Derby below him in 5th at bay who’s racked up 57 points over the last 5 weeks with some decent scoring to climb a place from last week.
Sanjay sits in 6th falling a place from last week, 5 points further back and just another 4 in front of Matt in 7th in a mini battle for mid table supremacy.
Worldclass will be in training for his forthcoming relegation play-off battle that will coincide with the leagues actual play-off matches. Wonder what the Gamball will be that week, Villa v Baggies perhaps.
Amelia’s no show this week didn’t harm her position one off the bottom as Snooty couldn’t capitalise and sadly it’s all but mathematically confirmed their relegation down to the Championship for next season.
Bomber
A big spread of scores this week which might just make the final couple of weeks interesting as the chase for the play offs hots up, though any doubt over the automatic promotion places should surely be gone. A stunning week for 4eva - 26 points thanks to a very good Good Friday - maximum points from the first 3 fixtures, including the Gamball, a total of 4 correct scores and a full set of positive balls. Another week like this could yet see him pipping Bomber to that play off spot.
Familiar names fill the next 2 slots. Themaclad takes 2nd place with 17 points from 5 correct results including the gamball - surely the title is now his? Quantum/AAA/Battery Boy/Mr Consistency enjoyed yet another good week despite the controversial mid-season change of name (rule books are still being consulted....well actually being written...to ensure/see if any penalty should be applied).
Mid table positions for Stairs and Bomber, both with 11 points, Stairs losng out on his Gamball, Bomber with his bonus. A stunning performance from Joker with 100% of his result predictions correct - just a pity that he only submitted 3 of them. Given his form over the season, maybe he should adopt this as a new tactic?
BaggieOne and Twerton failed to make double figures, both losing out on the gamball. BaggieOne at least scored from the other balls to keep him off the bottom.
Zin
Themaclad responded to the pressure being applied to him last week to stretch his lead at the top back up to 5 points from our old player with the new name AAA who had closed to within a point last week. There’s still plenty of life in the battle to go up as champion into the Premiership next season.
Bomber would have been thinking he’d slowly but surely seen off his challenger to 3rd place and a chance to go up via the back door via the relegation/promotion play-off, but hadn’t banked on someone from way back coming like a runaway train as 4eva emerged to throw down a serious looking assault on that much coveted spot. A season high deep into the season has closed the gap down to a “bakers dozen” with 2 weeks and 20 matches left to predict, that play-off spot is looking like it will go down to the wire.
Stairs remains 5th probably just too far back to be in with a shout, as now is Twerton who shares that position and was the main sufferer this week after returning a low score in comparison to those above him.
BaggieOne sits in splendid isolation in 7th safe in the knowledge that he won’t finish any lower unless Joker has found the secret formula of missing the first 7 games then predicting the last 3 and getting them all right – Bonus Ball and Score Ball included.
