Kick-off 15:00 02/March/2019

Town travel all the way to the south coast seaside shingle beaches to play a match in a stadium where you can't see the sea, but they painted it all in Town colours, so that's all right then. Town have kicked off at 15:00 on Saturdays more than any other club in the Prima Donna League, so that means we get less TV money than anyone else. Nice of 'em to make us feel welcome isn't it?

Anyway, enough of the bitchin' cos the monkey is finally off the back. Those yappy little puppies from Muddled England were brought to heel yet again on Tuesday so we go into the Blue and White Stripes Derby match growling and snarling and looking for more points against another team that we've had a number of good results against in recent seasons.

No doubt Tuesday has resulted in a bit more interest in a weekend by the sea? Our Southern based chaps and chapesses will be out in force again as they always are for these games. Thumb up

Music please maestro?

Though Town fans have barely stopped singing we've really not had a lot to sing about in the last few months, so a return to a time when we can walk around with a smile on our faces and a spring in our step is la nice feeling to have. Don't know any bands called the Blue 'n' White Stripes so we'll have to make do with The White Stripes to kick this thread off.

We're the blue 'n' white army (repeat until your tonsils fall out).

Last Time Out

Brighton traveled to Leicester on Tuesday and found out what we already know. What it's like to play a club that just sacked it's manager and appointed a new one just before the match. Puel out and former Red Scouse and Celtic leg end Brendan Rogers in.

Town on the other hand entertained the Baggies noisy neighbours, who happen to play somewhere just a couple of miles down the canal from me, and we once again tickled their tummies with a last minute winner from Mounié. Somehow he managed to put it between the sticks while sat on his arse rather than over or round them from a couple of yards out which he normally manages to do.

The eight changes from Saturday's match certainly raised a few eyebrows and without Mooy, who ran the show at the Moulinex in our last win, the howling Wolves should have been smelling blood. They were, but it was their own, once again, as Town ran them off the pitch, once again, and Mooy came on late to deliver the ball that resulted in the final coup de grace and leave them licking their wounds. Oh how they howled afterwards on social media - some right plonkers on there, some of 'em need to get out of their mum's loft more often.

As an indirect result of those results - Fulham have sacked dilly-dee-dilly-dong Claudio Ranieri this (Thursday) afternoon and they aren't due to play either of us again this season. What are they thinking?

Siewert said after the Newcastle match that he expects our players to run like their lives depend on it.

So .... we ran like the bunch of fighters that we are on Tuesday and will need to do it again on Saturday.

Fooey Smile

We've played 'em before

Brighton started our miserable run of form with a win at ours on 1st December, helped in no small way by our favourite ref Michael Oliver sending off that man Mounié for the softest tap on the shin that's been given as a red card all season. Despite being 1 up after the blink of an eye, Town went all defensive, lost that game and then completely forgot how to attack at all until new broom Herr Siewert started to blow some cobwebs out of the Leeds Road lockers and changing rooms and put 2 up front. A tactic that never seemed to cross Wagbo's mind, well until there was 5 minutes left and we were 2-0 (or more) down.

Recent results look pretty even, though the results don't always reflect the way the games have gone. Town usually play well against Brighton but we've also been victims of our failure to put teams to the sword when we have them on the back foot.

Form and Tables

The first green shoots of spring finally stick their head above ground. For once, we aren't the side with a big splurge of red and occasional grey/yellow next to our name. Despite having almost twice our points total, Brighton are still hovering over the trap door and could swoop right in like a desperate seagull after a kids bag of chips on the prom if they continue their current run of form.

Points means?

On my last thread I said we needed an average of 2 points per game to have a sniff at staying up (when there were 13 to go). Well with 10 to go we've got a grand total of 3, proving yon doubters out there (amongst our readers) wrong that we wouldn't even get 2 points. We need to kick on and at least try and move off the bottom, then see how it goes from there.

Who's knocking 'em in

To say they're a bit of a one man band might be overstating it a bit, but when they ain't playing with or scoring with Murray, they ain't in much of a hurry to score too many.

[Image: qe2DD7wLYDw4MnVjyZ7qbG9btLQuunnH7ED-r5pt...77-h617-no]

That being said, I wouldn't mind if our so far hidden Russian striker, Inov Da Vuddverk, becomes our leading goalscorer by the end of the season. Gawd knows he's saved enough for the oppo this season.

Where's Hughton been spending their brass?

Never been shy to flash that big fat American Express Card, another £77 million was splurged to try and keep them up again this season. Yes, that is about as much as we've splurged in 2 seasons. They didn't exactly scrimp and save getting up here either.

They balanced the books a bit (cough) by recouping about £12million in sales and the usual bunch of free transfers and loans to reduce the wage bill. That included £2 million from the Blunts for our old friend Oliver Norwood. Has he kicked a ball in anger yet in the Prima Donna League? Another that went on to bigger and better things Laugh

Where are ya?

Just north of Brighton then turn right (or left if your driving darn sarf from the M25). Your match ticket also covers free travel from Brighton and various other places. If you don't want to rush back to the station after the match then they open the bars again and apparently offer some tasty beers. There will likely be replacement buses running from Three Bridges (just south of Gatwick) to Brighton and back this weekend for those on the rattler from (or through) that there Larndan tarn.

Update from the Brighton Website
Trains: Southern Rail have informed the club that they will be operating an enhanced service for this match on the line that services Falmer, however please note that there will be a bus replacement service operating between Three Bridges and both Lewes and Brighton respectively, and all supporters are advised to check with Southern’s website prior to travelling.

Park & Rides: Both Brighton Racecourse & Mill Road will be open from 12pm.

Car Parks: All parking at both the Bridge (Car Park B) and at Sussex University (Car Park C) has now sold out, and there will be no cash sales on the day.

Otherwise all the stuff you need to know and I can't be bothered to cut/copy and paste is in here. Don't forget to come back, I'm not done yet.

They can't all win
Midweek was the first time in ages we had most of the results go our way, no reason that can't happen again this weekend.

Come on Town - get us another 3 points - it's times like these we learn to live again.

Remember going down on a Tuesday night in the championship promotion season. Went down at lunch time and came back straight after the game. Never again. Nice ground though with padded seats, lights were a bit strong though...

Nice one theo. Thumb up

Got a good feeling about this one. If we can keep eleven men on the pitch, we can win this. Brighton are in freefall. Whistle

Brilliant thread theo Thumb up
Love the "so far hidden Russian striker, Inov Da Vuddverk" Laugh
I also have a good feeling about this game. Play like we did against Wolves and we should have enough to beat them.
Although play like we did against Newcastle...gulp...

No Snoots - that woman knew the pain she caused unlike the wicked witch that turns up when you least need her anywhere near Leeds Road. She can stay on the wrong end of A62 for eternity and a few days as far as I'm concerned.

The Daily Fail are reporting that Jason Punchbag has been axed. They say he didn't like being subbed for Flo at Newcastle last week when Tommy Smith got sent off. Apparently he had a blazing row with Jan the man and so has been told to stay away from Canalside.

Expect him in the starting XI today then. Rolleyes

Send him back, don't care what the clauses say. He has previous at Palace which is why they don't want him either.

Getting a good feeling for this one, two big wins on the lottery last night. Just working out where to spend my fortune.

How much? £14.90. So that's a bus into Wolvo and back and 2 or 3 pints then Laugh
