He passed away 1 year ago today.

It has gone so quickly.

The words "hero" and "legend" are massively over used these days, but when you talk or think about Cyrille those words are nowhere near strong enough.
RIP big man.

Absolutely Drewks. I've been watching the Baggies since 1962 and seen lots of really great players over the years but Smokin' Joe was the best all round player I've ever seen in a blue and white shirt.....my all time, absolute hero!

Made it down to the unveiling for fifteen minutes or so at lunchtime. Good to see Brendan Batson looking well as the last of the trio; I shook hands with Bomber and wished him all the best too. Nearly had a word with Big Ron as well, but he got whisked away at the last sec.

It's easy to forget just how much abuse black players got in those days. I guess then it was 'normal' - expected.
Terrible.
The fact that it still goes on to ANY degree is obviously bad, but these days it's picked up because it's much, much more isolated than before.
Our 3 were great players - 2 were in my top 5 all time favourites - but they were even greater men.
Our club showed the country, and even Europe, the way forward, and IMO its something to be very proud of.
RIP Laurie, RIP Cyrille

Can't see anything about this on the club site. Says something about how much they understand the fans?
