Lavery needs the ball to his feet, not long balls.
Never been a Nuhiu fan but he does usually at least try, but yesterday he just didn't seem bothered.
Thought we could have done with an extra man in midfield in the second half, they cut through us down the middle in the 2nd half yesterday, maybe Semedo could have put a stop to that??
Cant see SG getting the sack unless we lose 6-7 games in a row.
"SG needs to have a re-think. Nuhui isn't good enough but Lavery & May isn't going to work. Can May play as a lone striker? Where can we find a big striker who can work with May & chip in with a few goals?"
Could go 4231, with Drenthe Left, McGuire right and McGugan in the centre, with Semedo & Lee the holding midfielders. McGugan showed he's a good passer in the first half yesterday. Problem is SG will stick with 442
Nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so. For glory gives herself only to those who have always dreamed of her.

Managers have to stand or fall doing it their way. BL listened to the fans in his final weeks in charge & he failed not doing it his way. SG has said more than once that he is a 442 man so that is the way we will play. DJ tended to play 442 at home and 4231 away which is what SG did at first but this season he has stuck with 442 except for the Brighton match.
The problem after Nuhui went off is that Wolves knew that we couldn't hit it in the air so it made their defending easier so they went from defending like jellies to reasonably competent.
I think 4231 works best when the guy up top can compete well in the air. SG doesn't want Madine so we are kind of stuck with Nuhui. Maybe look for a loan signing in January, Kone from Everton maybe although Martinez might want him for their first team.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Thanks for all your nice compliments imre. I love you too.
Hustler magazine is a bit too raunchy for me. I prefer my 1950s collection of Playboys.

Btw. I miss consilio and chezzie. They take the edge off imre a bit.

What happened to Consilio and Chez? lol
I think May might be better off up front on his own, as long as we don't play hoof ball and keep it down we'd stand a chance. Nuhui as we all know can hold up play well by my word I don't think I've ever seen a worse 'goal scorer' in my life, the sitters this guy has missed is criminal.
Not all his fault nor is it down to him really, as a team we've missed some golden opportunities that most other teams score against us. 16 goals in 21 games... not even 1 goal a game is it.
It's got to the point now when the WW commentators say we're on the break and about to shoot!!! and I already say to myself " Missed, well wide" and sure enough those are the next words out of the commentators mouth.

We have had no where near enough goals from the defence this season, some of that is down to them missing when they get the chance but also I thinks its also as a result of our poor set piece deliveries!! At least in the last few games we have seen better deliveries from Drenthe, hopefully that will contine and Loovens or Lees will get their goals!!
May needs to start taking his chances but it has been good to see him making telling runs and us actually trying to play him through when he does, that is definitely an improvement on him dropping deep or going out wide to try to create something!!

Maguires set pieces are generally awful, onceagain he is living off past performances!!! But surely its SG who lets him take them and not making sure someone else takes them instead. Both Drenthe and McGugan seem better than maguire most of the time!!!
From my perspective I would rather Loovens and Lees play their best football in defence rather than in attack but it is noce when a Ch chips in with a goal from a set piece!! We haven't had many defenders who can score and still defend well, Llera and Reda both got goals but were generally disasters waiting to happen in defence!!!
