But Wells didnt want to stay he didnt want to commit to sign and keep his options open and the club got 5m less Bradfuds cut.
Having just watched some of the Saints - Gooners on Sky we're going to be up against it next week to stop their forward line and pace.
I thought for long spells we did ok, thought Newc were solid but offered little, but someone has to bloody shoot, we need Pritch in the box, or stood no more than 10 feet from what will be Mounie returning next week alway dropping deep for the ball leaving no-one up front, Billing to get forward in the 3 wherever possible. Bacuna looked tidy, spreads the play but little or no sign of adventuring further, or letting loose, where as Billing totally disappeared apart from his throws 2nd half.
The crowd, no matter where you were sat didnt turn up either 2nd half, loads around us drifting at or before 80 mins, a real bad day at the office and the Mags who grew in volume as the game went on knews they'd smash n grab'd the vital 3 points as we trooped off home realising the worst.

Think the fans realise once we go one down we aint doing jack, add on how monotonous our play is in those sorts of games, it is very draining in itself.
I think wagner has to look at himself big time, these tactics aint working, its all well and good having the ball for 70% of the game and putting countless crosses in, if the quality of those crosses is lacking and the ideas in the final third are league two at best.
The current formation is one to nullify and try and sneak a goal through a set piece or mistake, which is fine and I understand, if we are away at a team where we could and should struggle, but at home, we have to embrace it and go for the juggler, especially when and whilst the fans are pumped up and vociferous.
He has two choices, revert to the formation that got us up, more men up and around the striker or a new formation, possibly looking at his bessie at liverpool. It might mean pritchard dropping back into midfield or out of the starting xi, but the striker is getting isolated, we no longer get in behind either. We dont really want to take a chance, its always one touch too many or one more pass, we're afraid of the oppositions goal, we're afraid of shooting and missing as if they get a proper telling off if they do. We seem to have been really stifled creatively and thats either due to the lack of confidence or the mentality of the coaches.
We talk about giving the players confidence or wagner does, but it doesn't seem to be happening any more. Going on what I've heard from someone down at the training ground there have been problems and still are with the players and coaches in regards to training itself. From what I've heard the players are a little disillusioned by the current training program and the results its providing and I dont mean in regards to us losing but more on their own development

Seriously through. Why is Kachunga not playing? Top scorer in our promotion season. Missed most of last through injury but he's back now. Why, when we're looking for an equaliser is he staying on the bench and the hopeless Mbenza coming on?
We're desperate for a goal scorer, but ignoring him.

When we put a full back in as an attacking midfielder it says a lot. Wagner needs to give his head a shake. You don't put fullbacks in and expect them to score when guys that can, even if it's occasionally, are sat on the bench or even in the stand, assuming they are actually in the ground.
Also, no good some fans bleating and moaning about the likes of Wells and Rhodes no being here any more. They went on to better themselves because they are better than us. Yeh OK, they've both collectively scored more than us in The Chumpionship, but they are in the Chumpionship, one at Norwich and one at QPR. Wow, smashing, great, super. Look what they could've won. Not exactly a speedboat to drive around a block of flats in Brum is it? Neither of them has kicked a starting football or scored many a goal in anger that I can find or recall in the Prima Donna League. Wells came on as a sub once or twice for Burnalee and made such an impression there he's now at QPR. If we play QPR next season it won't be because they get promoted.
Yon Geordie fella summed us up well on MOTD. We hump a ball up to a fella on the halfway line stood by the centre spot who is expected to win the header and flick it on to two lads who are stood by the touchline rather than a shirt sleeve away from him.
Our guys who should be stood on the touchline to use their 'speed' are sat on the bench or in the stand. When was the last time we did to a Newcastle akin to what they did to us yesterday? I'd rather we defend in their half than ours but we've no idea how to hit a team on the break with speed when they do occasionally wander over the half-way line.
Apart from that, we've no idea what the ball is supposed to do when we get near their penalty area either. Putting the onion in the onion bag would be a good idea if only we knew what the onion looks like let alone the onion bag. Anyone remember the song 'There's a hole in my bucket, dear Lisa, dear Lisa'? That is Town right now. With what shall I fix it?

Many a heated debate on the bus back on Saturday. Some thought we played well, others and myself included thought it was all a bit average.
74% possession in the first half I was told but other than Billings free kick I can't remember the Toon goalie doing anything of note.
By the end of the game our stats tell us we had 73.5% possession, 15 shots at goal(5 on target) and 10 corners and yet we never looked capable of scoring.
Waggers has to change the game plan, start playing wingers in the full back roll or even change back to the 4231 formation that got us through last season because right now its not working and we are starting to look desperate.

We've never looked like we can score goals though under Wagz. Nothing's changed there. We got promoted with a minus goal difference.
What has improved is the defensive side of the game, the stopping others doing their job. We never look overwhelmed. If only we had someone who could turn the half chances we do create into goals, we'd be laughing all the way to mid table. Without this, we're heading for the Chumpionship.
This is gonna be the most important transfer window ever.
