I like football at the moment. There seems to be a turning point in the air with younger
players coming through and the old guard slipping away slowly. I find playing in the
Second Division (I know, we are supposed to call it the Insert Sponsors Name Championship
but really?) quite refreshing and I don’t miss all the palaver of the First Division. Who
cares about Mourinho’s latest petulance?; Arsenal being lost in the wilderness?; Spurs
thinking they are something they are not?; Man City buying everything;?....but I must
admit Hazard’s goal the other day was a bit special. We have the excitement of a team
steadily gaining confidence and scoring goals. I love the highlights on Quest; I love listening
to the game on radio and I love taking my betting slip out and reading the bit that says “to
win the league outright”. COYB

Well, what a game of two different halves that was! In the first half we were very poor. Reading could have scored a couple more. For their goal no one closed down the short corner then backed off giving him room to curl one in. The half time stats said it all - WBA 5 Shots, 0 on target! Reading 14 shots, 5 on target.
The second half however was a complete transformation. Gayle' early goal settled us then it was one way traffic. Thought Edwards was superb when he came on, and Brunt did more in 25 minutes than Livermore did in the first 65!
Second place in the table going into the International break is more than welcome. But as others have said, please Big Dave, tighten up the defence a little, especially away from home. Maybe tinker slightly with that formation.
All in all I am loving this season. How great to be seeing so many goals (31!) and some superb attacking play. Keep it up Baggies! Boing Boing!

What bogey team? Lol! Quite a few people here are concerned with big daves tactics and right enough but you have to bear in mind big Dave bless him is not exactly the most intelligent manager on the planet what he does have in abundance is enthusiasm never say die attitude, he is very motivational and obviously very popular with the players and is West Brom through and through those are his attributes and strengths and that is what is working for him. I would suggest for tactics it’s our number two that has more savvy there having had the position he had with the Belgian national team and we seem to be playing a similar formation i.e. the three at the back however the Belgian national team and West Brom are two very different animals on seeing the Sheffield Wednesday game we were pretty horrific especially at the back were just not passing the ball well enough and linking up properly with the midfield it’s slow ponderous and nervy our centre backs get on the ball then seem to be calling/urging our midfield to come towards them for a shorter pass and not finding our players when they do make a longer forward pass but on the other hand we are absolutely lethal upfront with arguably the strongest attacking threat in this division and that is our main strength which was mentioned here previously by a wise guest looking in? I also think this is a transition and the players are having to adapt especially those that were pulised so time will tell if we can get better at this system better defensively and keep that attacking threat rolling im pretty satisfied overall but would obviously like to see the defending improve because given those current frailties the facts are we are 2nd in the league so far with a fantastic goal difference so boing boing to that
