Prediction League Results/Tables Week 8

A very mixed week in the PL with excellent scores at the top end and pretty darn bad ones at the other!!!! Leading this week is my good self with a season high score of 25 points, scoring my first Gamball correct score as well as a correct result on the Bonus. Coming in 2nd place was Mr Consistency this season Matt with a very good 21 points, courtesy of 3 correct scores and 3 correct results including the Gamball and BB!! BBB rounds off the top 3 on 19 points picking up maximum points on the bonus ball.

Bit of a drop to 4th place where we find Sanjay with 14 points, he had a solid week but his decision not to play the gamball actually cost him 4 points in the end!! Next came 2 of the comittee members, Beefy on 12 points and Zinman on 9, scores that will I am sure disappoint both of them!!!

Dropping further down we find Derby on points despite a correct result on the BB and a correct score in there, but the Gamball cost him. Worldclass and Lord Snooty both ended on 5 points, both missing the Gamball and only 1 correct score between them. Bringing up the rear is Amelia, who prior to Burnley winning yesterday was on zero after Saturdays games!!!

One interesting thing this week was of the 122 points scored in the PL this week, over half those points were won on just 2 matches - 34 on the Wolves win and 29 on the Spurs result!! On the other hand there were no points gained on the Maidstone v Chesterfield game and only two on the Coventry v Sunderland draw!! Probably goes to show what football snobs we have all become with our lack of knowledge of the lower leagues!!  Whistle

Cheers

Much like last week aside of top and bottom everybody else had a change of position this week, it was a week when the top half showed why they’re top half as the top 6 were the top 6 scorers in the Premiership this week, not only did it tighten the chasing pack, but it also put some daylight down to 7th place which will be the relegation/promotion play-off spot at the end of the season.

Matt stretched his lead at the top to 16 points after yet another excellent week which saw him surge past the century mark and he is looking a very consistent performer this year, while St Charles eases up two places into 2nd courtesy of that damn Gamball which helped him post a seasons best score this week.

BBB also moved up a place into a share of 3rd lying alongside Beefy who slipped out of 2nd, the only one in the top 6 who played the Gamball and suffered a minus on it.

Zinman was also on the slide this week dropping two into 5th, while Sanjay climbed a place right behind in 6th.
2nd down to 6th are covered by just 18 points, so the chances are there will be lots of musical chairs in the coming weeks.

Worldclass fills the end of season play off place in 7th just a point clear of Derby and Snooty who share 8th, while Amelia still fills bottom spot after another indifferent week. There’s only 11 points between the bottom 4 but while they fight amongst themselves the gap to safety increased to 8 points this week.

After 2 low scoring weeks, the Championship players returned to form with a vengeance, totalling their best combined score of the season so far. Unusually, the gamball didn't have a huge influence in this week's placings with only 1 of the top 4 gaining points from it. Congratulations to Quantum who heads the table with an impressive 19 points. 6 correct results, 3 of them perfect scores and avoiding a loss on the gamball - could this see the start of a charge up the table? 2nd place goes to 4eva, another player to get 6 correct results and also the only player to get maximum points from the gamball - a wrong bonus cost him top spot. 3rd place goes to Themaclad, 6 correct predictions but an incorrect gamball to give him 16 points and continue his impressive run of form.

Mid table is fairly congested, Bomber and Twerton on 15 points, the latter with his best of the season. Spireitematt (welcome back after a 2 week absence) and Stairs had identical performances on 13 and TurkeyD and Joker scored a respectable 12 but only just avoided the wooden spoon.

Only Baggieone failed to make double figures - 8 points would have been good last week but leaves him well off the pace in a high scoring weekend.
Huddersfield - Spurs proved to be this week's most predictable match, generating 34 points, closely followed by Blackburn - Forest. Seems we know less about League 1 with Swindon - Oldham totalling zero points with only Baggieone getting the result right. Still, at least nobody in the Championship played their scoreball on this nil nil draw.

A better week for Championship scores this week as they outscored their counterparts in the Premiership.

High up on that list of scores yet again was Themaclad who increased his lead at the top to 16 points and shows no signs of any let up in form as he leads from one of the other non-Baggies, Turkeydinner in 2nd who passed the century mark this week.

4eva had enough of sharing and took 3rd outright this week with a maximum on the Gamball making all the difference as an 11 point swing on Sunday with Bomber who had led overnight by 8 points left the latter to fall into 4th, 3 points further back.

Quantum made some inroads into those above him with a seasons best score in 5th and also opened up a gap to Stairs in 6th who lost the tag as the worst Gamball predictor this season with a rare success on it this week.

BaggieOne dropped a place to 7th as he suffered the only single digit return in points in the league, while Spireite rejoined the fold and picked up where he left off with his 6th consecutive correct result Gamball and would probably be considerably higher in the table but for 2 missed weeks.

Twerton enjoyed his best week of the season so far, but it wasn’t enough to move him any higher than 9th, but did increase his advantage over our wooden spoonist Joker who still props up the table despite a half decent week.

If Beefy gets this weeks up early you can always PM them mate, or just put 10 random scores numbered 1-10 and we can use those, bit of a lucky dip but at least you'll be in it Thumb up

I should point out I missed the start of last season joining late, but as the cliche goes, I had a good pre-season and hit the ground running, but I'm bound to have a mid season collapse  Laugh

I am doing great with the bonus ball this year ...... currently on -10. The only predictor to have a minus in double figures on this ball ...... oh woah is me where would I be if I was even breaking even with it ..... might have to stop playing with my balls. If you add all my balls together I am still running at -4. Having checked, it seems a lot of people are having g trouble with their balls this year, would make an interesting table, stairs is the stand out candidate for a vasectomy ...... ouch buddy ..... wishing you good luck and hope your balls get better soon.

Beefy knows I'm away from tomorrow so he's delaying the fixtures in the hope of stealing an advantage.
