So another high scoring victory against so called lesser opposition and with what looks like a fringe team, augurs well for the new season .I know we cannot read too much into it but we can only beat whats in front of us and it was nice to see Walker - AKA A.Trialist and Shaw scoring which can only boost their confidence .Also nice to see Luke Rawson playing a prominent part in pre -season
Next up is Wigan at home which MA says we will be taking seriously so I'm expecting to see something close to the first choice 11 and will be a truer test of where we are with regards to the new season .

I was pleased with the win at Nuneaton, because it was a young team and they were still able to win by a wide margin. I'd be happy to sign Lewis Walker and then perhaps we could persuade his dad to give Laurence Maguire and Evans a few coaching tips on the side too .........

I liked Lee Shaw getting his goal. Was pleased to see Joe Rowley getting a central role. Baffled by reports Sinnott has agreed a leaving package yet was in the team. Good that Ofoegbu got more pitch time and Sharman .....

Either we are very good at selecting the right games to try this OR it is something that works, BUT whenever we put in a blend of youth with a bit of experience it results in goals. Even last season! Could it be the more experienced players take it upon themselves to shoulder more responsibility and the younger players benefit and feel free to play their game, so we see the best of both?

When you look at the team we fielded those who don't make our regular Saturday 16 might well be looking to be loaned out to a team like Nuneaton ........ yet here they played in a 0-5, which suggests they are already well-capable at that level. Maybe a little more faith in our youngsters would pay dividends? Yes, Luke Rawson's goals suggest competitive games against men should be his next step.

The side we field against Wigan will be interesting, but the gulf in ability between the clubs may only demonstrate the spirit Mr Allen has engendered in his team.

Imagine if we do a Macclesfield and get promoted on a team built on confidence and morale.
