Winter Break
#1
So the FA introduce a nice winter break for our overpaid underworked little cherubs. Why February - god knows but I'm sure the lads will have deserved a well earned rest by then.
I wonder how long it will be before the FL follow suit?

So long as everybody is ordered to rest and not go on tours to the far east it should be alright.
Meanwhile there's another midweek fixture to fit in. Or will it be two?

Winter break but what is weird in the 2 week break there will still be matches played. In week 1 there will be 5 games and those that played in week 1 will get week 2 off and those that had week 1 off will play in week 2, so technically not a winter break but more of a 7 day break.

No more ET in the League cup just straight to penalties and penalty shootouts won't use the ABBA format in any competitions.

FA Cup round 5 onwards will be played midweek with them scrapping replays so round 5 and afterwards will have to be decided in ET and penalties.

Clubs aren't obliged to print football programmes either.

Blimey Pooch there is a limit to your optimism!

February seems a strange choice for break. I bet someone has done some research to show football crowds are at their lowest then. I can't believe it is really to benefit the players.

They'll just have brought in some new players after a Christmas run of defeats and then they won't be able to play them because there'll be no fixtures. Might be good for EFL and National League gates IF they are wise enough to avoid following suit.

Well it means we have to win 5 games to get there so even the most optimistic of us cant stretch that far ..
Part of me is hoping they get 6 inches of snow in the weeks before and after so it causes a fixture pile up.
