My girls asked this weekend why I was talking about ‘Big Dave’ when the manager was clearly called Darren Moore. I must admit I did not know. It has just always been so!

So I checked it out and for the record in case anyone else on here has just been calling him that without question:

Moore’s ‘Big Dave’ nickname stemmed from his likeness to a character in a Pot Noodle advert around the time of his arrival at West Brom in Sir Gary Megsons reign. It might’ve been jovial, but it stuck nevertheless. To this day, many a Baggies fan will refer to Darren Moore as such.

Stairs, you are 100% correct, when big D signed for us at the same time but not because of, pot noodle launched a king size pot noodle for the bigger appetite ...... the character in the ad with the bigger hunger was "big Dave", it just seemed to fit ..... Big D still has a big appetite for Albion ......

I’ve always wondered that myself. Ever since I first found WBA in the early 2000’s thanks to my Dad, he referred to him as Big Dave and I never understood why. I just followed along with it.

It is nice to now know. It has a good ring to it for Big Dave’s Barmy Army.

Yep guy on the pot noodle advert was big,black,mean had a afro and just a tee shirt on and went by the name of big Dave !!
Wasn't long before we were all singing there's only one big Dave

Yeah, remember the catchphrase being "blame it on Big Dave". I only hope it's not a catchphrase that gains currency at the Hawthorns next year...
