Breaking: Darren Moore has been named permanent head coach of West Brom #wba

We are delighted to confirm Darren as our new Head Coach and we look forward to his continuing the excellent work we saw when he stepped into the role in an interim capacity in the first week of April,” said chief executive Mark Jenkins. “He embodies the spirit of the Club and the spirit of what we are striving to achieve in this new chapter ahead.

Moore: “I am obviously extremely proud to accept this role and also extremely excited. We have a big summer ahead of us, a lot of hard work we need to get in now. I’m going all out to try to get those plans and personnel in place to make sure we’ve got everything ready."

Congratulations and all the best to Big Dave.

I just hope we don’t regret not looking externally when we get to the end of the season. For all of Big Dave’s integrity and professionalism, he does lack proper experience and will need good experienced heads around him.

My thoughts exactly Josh
Interestingly this Tarrenteno bloke was supposed to oversea our next head coach appointment when we didn't need him anyway, I hope he has more success at identifying players,
I hope people realise if it all goes tits up the probability is the Big Dave will leave the club completely, I dont want that to happen, hence my feelings for him to stay as a number 2 with Dean Smith,
Swansea are now going for Potter and Stoke rumoured to be going for Smith two which we could have snapped up weeks ago,
Let's hope we have made the correct choice Thumb up

For me, employing Moore is a bit like going down the casino and putting £1000 on red or black.

Despite the improvement in form at the tail end of last season, I don't think that we learnt a lot about him as a manager, tactically. Definitely not enough to know if he's cut out for the massive job ahead.

What worries me is that with a potential mass exodus on the horizon, it could be an extremely tough job even for the most experienced manager. Being a pessimist, I'm worried that we could fall into insignificance for 10 years regardless of the choice of manager. Employing someone who has never overseen a transfer window, with a potentially massive window in front of us, doesn't really ease my fears.

Let's just hope we can keep the momentum of Moore's spell last season and this helps us to keep the bulk of the squad together, as one good sign under Moore was that the players appeared to want to play for him.

Especially as I'm a Handsworth lad myself, I'm really pleased to get him as HC. Loved him as a player, and loved him as a Caretaker HC.
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with

Hey Slick - employing others in the last few years with BIG experience of transfer windows didn't exactly pay off either!
Personally I'm pleased that we've chosen BD; I honestly don't see how we couldn't after his amazing influence in the last 5 weeks. I do share the view of his "lack of experience" a tad, but I believe he simply deserved this chance.
Sock it to em, Big Dave! !

Ditto Saft, Handsworth lad myself as well.

I don't go with this "no experience thing" I'd sooner have someone who right from the off holds the Baggies dear to them first and foremost and who isn't coming to us for a bigger pay packet. Why would Smith do any better just because he's got Championship experience or Potter just because he's done well in Sweden. Everybody starts somewhere and we've got to remember we're now a Championship club, and we're that because of the total ineptitude of 2 "experienced" managers.

Yes, I'd hate it if it all went horribly wrong and Big Dave lost any of the affection we all have for him but that's the risk we've taken, but the players clearly play for him as they proved at the back end of the season even if it does confirm that they're a bunch of overpaid, needy and petulant bunch of prima donnas. If Big Dave tells you to go out and play your heart out for the club, that's what you'd do, and that's not out of fear that's out of respect for the bloke. I would imagine he demands that respect not only for himself but also for the club, that he so clearly loves, just like us.

We've heard the talk from the top about returning or striving to go back to "the Albion" values and what better man to start that off than Darren Moore who ran through brick walls for us as a player. What he guarantees is that we get away from the Tony Pulis, David Kemp, Gerry Francis, Alan Pardew, John Carver types who showed us that they didn't really give a 5hit about us, make us a laughing stock, plummet down the table, get the sack and walk away without a second thought. We had more hope in those final 6 games than we'd had in the 30 odd before them.

With the right people behind and alongside him Big Dave could be just the man to lead a return to what we'd all love to be, who knows, we all want him to be part of the club and it just seems a bit harsh to start raising doubts about how he'll do on the same day he gets the job, although as I said I do share the "not wanting him to fail" reasoning behind some of those doubts. I'd hate some sports reporter to open his interview with "you weren't all of the fans choice for the job" "some of the supporters are a little underwhelmed" or "fans have been voicing their concerns about your appointment"

Darren Moore's Blue & White Army Thumb up

Great post, Bomber!  Thumb up  Thumb up
Maybe another option, if it DOES seem as tho things are going wrong,  is to simply give BD some experienced help - there's plenty of experience out there who could do some sort of consultancy job, surely?

It's not so much inexperience as a manager he has no experience of building a squad , new players etc where as a Dean Smith who knows the championship would have identified players to get us up,
As Tarrenteno had no real input towards the managers job I hope we get a good no2 a good dof in to help Darren, I also hope he has a few foreign players lined up,
As a man there is no better than a Big Dave in charge to unify the club, he will need some help though because he won't be able to do it on his own, I just don't want this to go tits up and Big Dave leave the club completely,
No matter what my opinion I would also like to point out now he is manager I'm 100 % behind the big man, if he gets us back up it couldn't happen to a nicer chap Thumb up

We don't honestly know how much Tarrenteno had to do with this appointment tho Beefy - he may well have endorsed it after seeing the bloke at work!
Isn't he going to have a big hand in other appointments too? Not sure whether this includes players, but they're not daft (hmmmmm ...).....they'll be more aware than us of the possible dangers of inexperience and I'm sure that they'll be discussing this with an eye to giving BD the appropriate level of support.
I think I'm sure anyway
