Jeremy Peace must be having a nightmare inside his own head right now. A cold sweat for both him and Alan Irvine. Irvine will surely lose his job before he loses the dressing room.

I will give AI credit for making those bold, attacking changes.

Now he has seen what Varela brings to our team, he has to start him against Hull. Also get Blanco back in the fold and we can start to see our best players.

Won and lost in the first half. 15 great minutes at the beginning, exactly what the doctor ordered, and we completely deserved the lead.

So what the cowin hell happened then? The team hit the reset button and returned to factory defaults, the way they do every single time. "We're in the lead! Hey guys, let's sit back and play like the away team till half-time!" For all Irvine's faults (and I do think failure to sort this problem out counts among his faults) this pre-dates him. They were doing it under Mel, they were doing it under Downing & Kiely, they were doing it under Clarke. For all that shite refereeing led to West Ham's equaliser, they deserved it because they'd been bossing the match, and they then deserved the winner we gifted them.

Second half, we threw the kitchen sink at them, as we should have done first half when we had the upper hand. Great showing from Varela - no excuses to not be playing him - though not convinced by Ideye. Dawson should have equalised, Anichebe unlucky not to. It would have papered over the cracks, though. You can't cede the initiative like we did and expect to not get punished.

Up to Jeremy now to judge how bad the rot is, and what needs to be done. All I'd ask is that if he does axe Irvine, then he doesn't stop there. These problems are bigger and deeper than AI.

Reckon he will be given the Hull match after the first 20 and last 30 mins today. However, if the team sheet doesn't contain Varela/Gamboa etc. I think JP should publicly walk on the the pitch at the KC with a megaphone and do the Alan Sugar "you're fired!".

Baggie Man, I think Irvine is weak, afraid to give it a go.

Three more winnable games in a row now before Man City - minimum of 6 points required whoever the head coach is.

Well - we lost but I DON'T MIND LOSING LIKE THAT!!!!!

Gotta say that I only saw the second half, but the last 30 mins was SO good; positive stuff by AI - although maybe forced into it - but it really made a huge difference to go out and bloody well ATTACK!!
I don't think anyone played badly in that 2nd half, and Big Vic was a bloody revelation and showed what he really can do.......shame he'll probably be out for the next 5 weeks Blush

Varela looks a class act.....Sess is so bloody hard to mark......Saido again looked good........Big Vic fab-u-lous, darling, and with us storming forward our back four looked less vulnerable! Pleas note, AI! Whistle

I know Dorrans gets some stick on here, and rightly so at times, but in the 2nd half today his workrate was huge and shouldn't be ignored just because he puts a couple of balls astray; IMO he does an awful lot more good than bad!

This has made me so much more optimistic even though we lost; I hope that the attacking play and the atmosphere it created wasn't lost on AI, and I REALLY hope that he turns a corner from tonight with his selections, I really do.

First game I've missed I years except the odd cup game (always at least watched them)

Just read the comments that's it, expected a West Ham win, even when we were up.

Just glad varela and ideye played a bit!

With all due respect, if you'd seen the first half, you'd know why we're angry. We bottled it in majestic fashion after taking the lead. Second half was a huge improvement, but as others have said, too little too late.

Varela looked good as we all new he could be,

Ideye made a nuisance of himself almost set Dawson up for a equaliser.

8 Minuets not long enough however.

I really liked Sess out wide,

Can you imagine him with Gamboa behind him at full back

Poco and varela on the left Smile

Whats the problem.

Well played to Vic (can he stay fit0

Dawson infuriates me, makes some good blocks, but his passing is woeful

Two terrible goals conceded at set pieces cost us big time,

But why did we sit back after taking the lead and let it happen Angry
