I was just about to post this.

The nicest way of describing him is he is passionate. In less nice terms, he is a nutcase but a good nutcase. He is ultra passionate on the touchline and very opinionated so gets into trouble from time to time. His Torino team could be best described as a Jürgen Klopp team on Acid. His Torino team was ultra attacking with a high defensive line and high press and they took lots of risks. That left them loose defensively but the matches were very entertaining. Think of the old mentality of “you score 3, we score 4”. His Torino team played in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 whilst he used a 4-4-2 at Milan and 4-3-1-2 at Sampdoria. His Milan and Sampdoria teams were less risky than his Torino team but still played attractive football.

A sour point for him as a Coach came last season in the Turin Derby, a Torino player was sent off and he stormed onto the pitch and got right in the refs face screaming at him. He was sent to the stands.

Overall I’d be happy with him especially for the way his teams play. His temperament at times does raise questions though. To be honest I doubt it will happen anyway.

I’m still unsure on him for the permanent position because of his lack of experience at what it will entail during the summer and next season.

Controversial very often goes with 'passionate' -and in MHO Italian coaches seem to do this pretty well.
Actually by the bucket load.

I have three worries about him:

1) His in-match temperament such as the Turin Derby incident and another match where his assistants made the wrong substitutions and he got angry and started pushing one of them away from the touchline in an aggressive manner.

2) His off pitch temperament such as before and after match press conferences. Whilst he has funny moments, (he once described Maxi Lopez (a striker he had at Torino) as a washing machine because he was overweight) sometimes he can go over the top in what he says which is more acceptable in Italy but not really great for England.

3) I’m not sure what his level of English. Whilst not a major worry, we need someone whose English is at least good.

Put the above to one side and look at his record and style of play, he could be a proper, quality left field candidate especially if Terraneo is in favour of him.

Like I said last night though, I can’t see it coming off anyway. I can see him getting a new job at a Serie A club in the summer. Bologna for example are looking for a new coach in the summer. (Their current Head Coach Roberto Donadoni is leaving in the summer. Donadoni could actually be another left field Terraneo option)

I wouldn't mind Dean Smith as far as 'championship experience' goes - much preferable to Lee Johnson, Appy and co.

As for Mihajlovic, I loved him as a player. Cultured, goal scoring centre back with a wand of a left foot. Don't see any in that mould anymore. A free kick was as good as a penalty with him in the side.

I remember watching him in the Cup Winners Cup Final in 1999 at Villa Park in my early teens. Some real stars in that Lazio team, but he was my favourite player along with Nedved.

As a coach, his record seems quite hit and miss, but what a player.
