What a prat this Bong is ....
Apparently after the hearing Jay apologised to him about the smelly hand gesture,

He has now taken to social media and said Jrod apologised to him giving the impression he has apologised for a racial comment ........

This has now forced JRod to get his Solicitor to point out what he actually apologised for, This is a disgrace as Bong continues to hound someone who has not been found guilty of anything ...

Read Bongs comments & response from JRod below ......................

SMELLY BREATH

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Gaetan Bong has given his verdict after West Bromwich Albion striker Jay Rodriguez was cleared of racially abusing him.

Bong is disappointed with the outcome of the Football Association hearing but said Rodriguez had apologised to him.

He tweeted tonight: "Today I am very disappointed because the lack of evidence has not led to sanctions against such attitudes.

"But in spite of my disappointment, I encourage everyone, men and women, who may also be subjected to a similar experience, to stand up and denounce such acts, even if the chances of obtaining sanctions are likely to be very small.

"Despite the lack of evidence I am certain of what I heard on the field.

"Human rights are universal rights that are not foreign to any culture, and they belong to all countries.

"I would like to thank the club and everyone who supported me and the FA for their response to this matter during their investigation.

"It is important to remember than this decision was made by an independent panel. Mr Rodriguez has apologised and this is already positive."

RESPONSE ...

Bong's tweet prompted a response from Nick Phillips, a lawyer at Beswicks Legal and Beswicks Sports, who represented Rodriguez.

Phillips tweeted: "We wish to respond to comments made by Mr Bong in a tweet he released this evening.

"The case against Jay Rodriguez was dismissed by an independent FA Commission and he was cleared of making any racist comments.

"At the hearing Jay apologised to Mr Bong for any offence caused by the gesture he made during the game - this was accepted by Mr Bong.

"It is important to clarify that Jay did not apologise for making any racist comments as Jay never said anything racist.

"It is important that all parties respect the decision of the FA Commission and move on."

I thought that a verdict of 'not proven' was only used in cases in Scotland.!!!!

It still leaves a potential slur hanging over the head of Jay. IMHO not a very satisfactory verdict.

Move on???
This whole case has had a big effect on Jay's life and, knowing football fans, he'll get stick ever after from opposing fans. There are 3 (4) Match Officials out there, and they were oblivious to any namecalling, therefore the "offence" should have been ditched at 5 o'clock that day.

Unless lip-readers are to study CCTVs up and down the High Streets, namecalling will go on forever. A bloke I know has been called "Fat B***tard" for years whenever he gets involved in conflict. What's the difference? James McClean takes merciless stick every time he's within range of opposition fans, and no doubt gets verbal abuse on the pitch as well.
Namecalling is hardly in the same league as having your ankle broken. So, unless the Match Officials see or hear incidents that are provocative the incident s/b closed. It's a bloody game, and tempers get stretched. People like Bong s/b mercilessly booed every time he gets the ball - see how he likes it - the poof.

I think that, to be fair to the FA, they had to investigate the complaint. Racism is such a sensitive and, in my own personal opinion, odious issue that it was inevitable that it would go to an enquiry. I'm very pleased that Rodriguez has been exonerated, although, like others, I'm unhappy about the "not proven" decision. As someone who lives in Scotland, "not proven" is often interpreted as "we think you did it but can't prove it". I'm not sure that, in this case, this is what the FA intended by this, however. I think they genuinely could not find any definite evidence one way or the other. Also disappointing that Bong then took to the media to give the impression that Rodriquez had apologised for the "racist remarks" when he'd clearly done no such thing. Finally, and despite my comments at the start, I do get annoyed when the race card is chucked at every non racial slight or comment because it's a convenient stick to use. If someone is racist they deserve to get punished; if someone calls you a twat, get over it.

I'll state first of all that I hate racism and haven't got a racist thought in my head, and that I fought off racists who picked on my black mate Steve on the Tube after a match at Fulham, losing a tooth, which Steve and I joked about for years (although he himself lost one as well)!
But I've said on here before that most black people feel patronised by white PC people "sticking up for them" on pathetic namecalling.

[BaggieSteve, are you an Englishman in Scotland? How do you feel when Jocks (can I use that word?) call you a Sassenach, or an English b**tard??] I've been called whatever it was that the Arabs called us when I worked in Saudi, - and I couldn't have yawned as hard if I acted it! It didn't matter one jot to me. Everyone takes the mickey out of Micks - not for their red hair, but because they tell Irish jokes THEMSELVES about how they're not "a full shilling". THAT's worse.]

I was very confused when I read that in today's paper (fake news?):

"A PAIR of female thugs grabbed a Spanish-speaking woman by the hair and subjected her to a torrent of racist abuse on a late-night tube train. The vile pair are being hunted after screaming that the 24-year-old should speak English in England after overhearing her chat to pals." The "female thugs" were black!!!

Can whoever they are who think it's them who decide what is/isn't racist try and understand that throwaway insults are part and parcel of life, and getting called names actually makes you stronger. Like a lot of things that happen on a football pitch the Officials are there to decide what is particularly offensive enough to provoke retaliation. Kicking, and anything physical, is worthy of cards, but calling a grown man names is laughable. Thus, if the Officials don't hear the intent of such words (and are all refs multi-lingual?) they can do nothing. If Bong had said "He just kicked my leg, and there's the blood to prove it" the ref could equally do nothing, although the physical injury is obviously worse.

Hi Talksaft
Yes, I'm an Englishman living in Scotland and have been here for 37 years. To be honest, I've never had any problem with my nationality, partly I suspect because I see myself as a Brit and I don't like nationalism of any hue, Scottish or English. As a result, the occasional comment tends to wash over me, a bit like you described yourself. Really, I've never experienced any anti-English sentiments; I mean you get banter when it's England v Scotland at rugby or football but, to be honest, the comments are worse when the Baggies play the Vile. There's also a lot of good feeling towards the Albion when people know I support them, I think a lot of that is down to our fairly long history of having Scottish players...either that or it's just pity Tongue
