Dodgy Soccer Streaming Sites

Has anyone else experienced this?

Last night as usual I tried to find a stream that has the West Brom game. I often use VIP Box and you have to go through the rigmarole of closing ads and other pages that somehow get automatically opened by the site.

Some of the mysterious unwanted pages are for dating sites but, more worryingly, some are porn sites with unwanted images on display that just appear unsolicited.

Thing that concerns me is they could be dodgy illegal sites whereby you as user, unwittingly had something appear and recorded on your computer or tablet even if you immediately close the offending page.

The only time my laptop had a virus was due to trying to watch a Town match. Never again!

Best way to prevent unwanted pop-ups is to use the Mozilla Firefox browser and install the Adblocker plug-in. It blocks pop-ups at source. I've never used it on a streaming site, so don't know how well it works there, but it does the job everywhere else.

Thanks for the heads up on Adblocker Ska'd. Although I mainly use Chrome which is faster, I will give it a try. Does it only work with Mozilla Firefox?
It is a concern when unwanted pages and images appear on your screen when all you want to do is watch some footy!

Ska'd, the best way to stop unwanted pop ups is to think of a dingle woman in a doghead shirt cornering you naked whilst holding a condom ..... stops pop ups dead.

I've just had a look at my Chrome browser, and they have an adblocker you can enable too. You have to open the "customise and control" menu which looks like three dots in the top-right hand corner, scroll down to extensions, and then on the extensions page run a search for "adblocker".

The top-rated one is Adguard AdBlocker, which I've just enabled myself. No idea how good it is or if it'll do the job you want, but no harm in trying.

Ad-blocker does install under Chrome, I have used it under Chrome Firefox and Explorer, though you will have to download the specific extension for your browser. That said if you want to stop the pop ups on VIP box, it will not stop them all, as some pop-ups work in a different way. One thing to be aware of if you use it on VIPBox is, when you first go to load a page, you will get a page load saying you have an ad-blocker installed asking you to turn it off, if you close that page and try to open the same page, as when you got the message, this time it will open. I only say this as on some sites, e.g commercial t.v sites, you will have to disable it or the entire site will not work. I would suggest if you know the site is safe, that you to add it to adblocker as an exemption, "VIPBOX IS NOT A SAFE SITE", so use it, but do not disable the blocker. Also with VIP Box, I usually go to the third listed link for the game as the first two often are just adverts themselves. Just remembered something else, there is a chance you will get porn pop-up, so be careful using VIP Box with people around, its not often but seems to be getting more frequent of late.
