Jeff Astle outjumps Marvin Hinton, watched by Chelsea inside-forward Terry Venables, 2nd October 1965

A fortnight on from yet another unacceptable and frankly unsurvivable performance and result, and still the pantomime of Pulis's tenure grinds on to what now seems an inevitable conclusion. As Albion face Chelsea at home on Saturday we're in essentially the same boat as in the game against Man City, albeit in a worse position in the table. There's a nasty sense that John Williams is keeping his fingers crossed for a scrappy 1-0 win somewhere along the line to keep Pulis on board, but the discontent among fans is slowly reaching Gould/Talbot levels, and it's almost unanimous. To put it simply, if Pulis manages to keep his job through the winter it's going to get ugly.

For the sake of our Premier League status, that scrappy 1-0 win would be welcome. But in the long term, it might just prolong the agony of what's been for some time now an utterly untenable position.

Foster
Nyom - McAuley - Evans - Hegazi - Gibbs
Krychowiak - Barry - Livermore
Rondon - Rodriguez

The above is what I expect TP to play as we defend our way to a positive 2-0 defeat. TP keeps his job and does the same thing against Tottenham with a 3-0 defeat. Doh

Der wahnsinn.

To be fair to Pulis, he has had his masterplan ruined by injuries. He clearly wants to start with 10 defenders, but can't because Dawson is out.
And when those defenders have valiantly kept the score down to reasonable levels, he can't bring on the likes of Burke, Chadli and Morrison on in the 89th minute to try to rescue a point.

I can see today turning very nasty if Chelsea get an early goal. Be very interesting to see what comes out in the news after the game after what's looking inevitably like a Chelsea win today. Will be amazed if Pulis survives as the atmosphere at the end of Huddersfield away was toxic and that was only 2,500+ away following, be a fair few more shouting for him to go today!

Also looking on the ticket site there looks like plenty of empty seats in BRE and East Stand, so there's quite a few who pick and choose their games that have clearly decided to give it a miss. Would imagine that won't go unnoticed by Lai!

Bonus is that the Wales management job is vacant. He might fancy a pop at that and we could have him leave and get compensation.

As its nearly Christmas the Albion anthem for today's game whilst we're getting battered should be Jona Lewie " can you stop the Chelsea (cavalry) "
