It’s rare I rant to an organisation (ok that’s a lie). But for what it’s worth this is my contribution, sent today to the Albion.

I am a 58 year old veteran Albion fan and so I am used to painting lipstick on the West Brom pig performance.

But this is the end for me, for yet another season. It started with huge promise having new owners and activity in the transfer market.

But no matter how much lipstick you apply, Tony Pulis and his tactics remain very visibly a pig.

To save myself more grey hair and worry lines I am turning to Rugby for the winter unless you do the obvious and necessary and replace the manager and his negative tactics.

We have the squad now. But not the manager to use it.

Here's my fumbling/bumbling effort:

Dear Mr Williams
I know that I am one of many who have followed our great club for many years - over 50 in my case - and so I speak now for the good of the club.
I firmly believe that Mr Pulis was a great appointment when he joined our club, and, until the end of last season, I kept my view that he was the best man to be our HC.
Now, however, I have changed my view on this; his absolute refusal to engage in anything approaching positive, or attacking football is killing this club. It is turning established fans -like me - away, let alone neutrals. We have always enjoyed a good reputation in football, but this is very quickly being lost due to the complete negativity of Mr Pulis.
I urge you to either change his mindset, or change Head Coach quickly, before it is too late. I would rather see us relegated but playing a more expansive game than to put up with the rubbish we are currently producing.

Yours in hope

Drew Smith

Here's my offering sent FAO Mr Williams this afternoon

There have been many occasions when I’ve felt the need to write to the club - to complain about this, that and the other usually when things are going badly and also at times to congratulate, praise and encourage when things are going well. I’ve always resisted doing so for one reason or another, but after 50 years of supporting our club I’ve never had such a strong inclination to voice my views.
I have seen Albion all over the country and have, a majority of the time, accepted, supported and encouraged anyone who associates themselves with my club. I’ve begrudgingly accepted the bad times when we’ve struggled because at those times we haven’t had good enough players to be where we all want to be and we haven’t had the funds to buy anyone better. Hard to accept but a fact of life that any true supporter will acknowledge in the times where there is such a gulf between the rich clubs and the others.
I have also witnessed and been part of the euphoria and joy when we’ve won play offs, been promoted, had cup runs to semi-finals and survived in the Premiership, when we’ve been lucky enough to have had some home-grown talent or attracted a better quality of player to achieve these successes.
It is only now that I have decided to contact to you as we are now perched on the periphery of both success and failure, with the reason for my letter, Tony Pulis, in control of that destiny.
We have become an established Premier League side and Mr Pulis should be applauded for the part he has undoubtedly played in that, in fact we may not have retained that status without his guidance. We are steeped in history, have first class training facilities and stadium and a set of supporters who, although I’m biased, are amongst the best in the land.
These circumstances have led to an impressive influx of talented, quality, creative players of the perfect age that are more than capable of taking our club forward and closing the gap on the so called top sides in the Premier League, a reason to be optimistic.
However, while lauding Mr Pulis’ efforts earlier, it is now apparent for all to see that he is unable to utilise the players or their talents for the benefit of West Bromwich Albion. We are rapidly becoming the most negative, boring and tactically inept team in the Premier League, in fact we have a reputation for it across the whole of the country. Even our own fans are saying it and staying away in their droves. What type of image are we trying to portray around the globe and to our young supporters?.
Mr Pulis has to take the blame for turning us into a laughing stock, buying quality players, but not letting them play to their strengths or totally out of position, I’m bored by the way we’re sent out to play by Mr Pulis every single game, home or away and in cup games.
Mr Pulis should be thanked for his efforts and relieved of his duties as soon as possible for the sake of the present and the future of West Bromwich Albion. It is time for change, it is overdue and cannot be allowed to continue
50 years it's taken me to write to my club, the last 2 months, I could have written every day.

Yours Sincerely

I didn't even get that automated reply ??
I have asked for a response from our chairman regarding the situation as he has offered us nothing publicly as a Chairman since his tenure at the club.
Even if not directed to me but some sort of public statement wouldn't go amiss Doh

Hello this was my email

Mr Chairman.

Yes I love West Bromwich Albion and if you cut me in half I’d be blue and white Stripes.

My dad first took me to the Albion in 1971 when I was 4 years old.

I have seen the greats like Regis, Cunningham, Statham, Robson , Cantello, John Osbourne and later Super Bob Taylor, Kevin Phillips, Gera and the lust goes on.

I have seen some abject displays and managers come and go but I have to say although I love My Albion I can’t stand what we have become on the pitch. This breaks my heart. Throughout the country we are a Joke and the team that Parks the Bus and don’t play football. I only wear my Albion Shirt to the games but not always. I’m to embarrassed to wear it in and around Dudley or on my holidays because of the laughs I get.

This is all down to Tony Pulis and his anti football. He has the players to play ‘the right way’ but chooses not to.
Yes he was good for us when he came in and did a job but should have gone at the end of that season.

He has to go because he is killing our clubs DNA of playing nice football. I have 3 season tickets and I’ll be honest I only had them hoping he would get the sack.

If he’s here next season my kids and I won’t be. I’ve already started to go and see Walsall who I have to say play better football than us.

I hope the board sees sense and move Pulis on before he totally destroys our club. Being in the Premier League isn’t everything. I can’t remember the last time I was excited about coming up to a game but I know it was pre Pulis.

Best Regards

David Woodall
