Well I did say quite a while ago that October was our big chance to win games if we were ready. Morecambe always look beatable and always give us plenty of trouble, even when we've got a team.

Blue-sky thinking is great, but I'm afraid this is our equivalent of Brexit. We've got to be ready for no deal, because the opposition just won't play ball.

Even if we win 5-0 on Saturday we need to be preparing for next season. It's easier to become a York, a Stockport or Darlington than a Bristol Rovers. Me, I wanna be a Bristol Rovers. And I don't think we're going to get there by faith in a messiah be it Jack Lester or Joe Rowley, random good fortune, or the capitulation of two clubs keen to be worse even than us.

Remember under Cook we played Morecambe away and we were 3-0 up at half-time and lost 4-3. Morecambe are our bogey team just like Macclesfield were.

I agree Matt. Jim Bentley does an amazing job there. Morecambe perenially look the weakest team in the division, but they rarely even struggle.

On the other hand that doesn't stop it being one of our best chances of a win.

Funny how we thrash teams from further down the pyramid when we mix in youngsters with our first teamers isn't it? We assume the easy win is due to the weakness of the opposition. We never for a moment consider whether the whole first team would win anything like as easily. Would anyone from our first team have scored four in the first half against Clay Cross?

Could we do worse by throwing in four or five youngsters? You can't do much worse than losing every week can you?

Jim Bentley would do a good job at a team with a good budget.
