Albion legend John Talbut in a previous life, facing the Baggies in Burnley colours in 1963.

Following a trademark 1-0 win which, in the circumstances, most of us gratefully took with a sigh of relief, the quest to pick up early points continues on Saturday with a trip to Turf Moor. Burnley, of course, had every reason to be pleased with the three points they bagged at Stamford Bridge, and as things remain very much up in the air with this makeshift Albion team, they'll look to repeat the feat.

It's not all doom and gloom for the Baggies, mind; last week both Hegazy and J-Rod looked very much the part, and the squad has been further augmented by the arrival of Gareth Barry. Like Darren Fletcher and Joleon Lescott before him, the latter is a player of undoubted quality getting on in years, and we just need him to provide that flash of inspiration when it's needed. If he can do that, then it's a worthwhile (though frustratingly short-termist) signing. The question marks that hover over Evans and Chadli aren't so good, but hey ho: until deadline day comes just get your heads down and keep the points rolling in, lads.

Seem to remember being at that game. It was at the time Burnley were very much a power-house in English footy and we didn't do so well against them. 'Chippy' Clark the Baggie?

From memory Burnley used to over perform regularly in those days and I saw them play on a number of occasions.

However, due to poor home attendances at the time, Burnley had to keep selling their best players in order to survive financially. Must have had an excellent youth structure back in the day.
Some days I'm top dog, most days I'm just the lamp post.

Another game with only 2 fit central defenders, one of which has been playing right back for years.

Only 2 fit senior central midfielders.

When are the board going to pull their fingers out and get some deals done?

Like last week, not hopeful looking at this match day squad. Hopefully we can pull another surprise.

Is it ominous that as Club Captain, Jonny Evans hasn't travelled with the team today.
