It's only 2 games gone still a lot of football to be played but the tactics need to change. We need 6-7 points out the next 3 games.

Matt the manager needs to be changed and pdq. It doesn't matter that we are only 2 games into the season. Its plain to see that nothing has changed.
He is determined to stick with 3 at the back even when everyone but him can see its not working and he still doesn't have the players who can do it. His tactical knowledge is worse than ***king useless. Why persist with Ogrady and Ugwu up top who don't look like scoring, drop your top scorer into a midfield role then make him the first player to be substituted?
Even if he gets 6 or 7 points from the next 3 games he needs to be gone. He should never have been here in the first place and if it had been any other club he would have long since been shown the door.
Add to the above the fact that we now have the extra burden of all his cronies being brought in making it virtual certainty that we will be stuck with him through to Christmas at least. It makes me want to cry Why oh Why oh Why.
In this instance I am honestly not pleased with myself and crowing I told you so but this manager is taking us nowhere other than down again.
If he sees sense and gets them playing in a workable formation instead of trying to play square pegs in round holes we might just survive but he seems so headstrong I just cant see it.

I have to say I feel very much like Dancing. I feel sorry for GC as we left him to take over when the club was in a downward spiral from which I felt Danny was the most likely to pull us out, as he'd saved us from the Saunders debacle. (He obviously wasn't a step down from Saunders; he saved us!) GC had to learn about the club, discover player weaknesses, discard and recruit. Saving us was a huge job and he chose a totally impractical method.

But now GC has spent a close season recruiting and you don't need to be a weatherman to see which way the wind's blowing. He's heading down the same streets he trod last year with different personnel, but exactly the same results. WE CAN'T LET IT HAPPEN. Getting back up from the Vanarama is bloody hard (I notice Boco scored for Orient, and Whitely who I kept on about at Dagenham has scored in both games so far.)

As regards wing backs, look how Man City used them at Brighton. They played Otamendi, Stones, Kompany as a back three, Danilo and Walker as wingbacks, who really can get up and down, AND their midfield featured Fernandinho a midfielder with a real tackle in him as the defender of the three, de Bruyne and Silva. Now we haven't got a Division 2 level equivalent of any of those. We've not got the tackle, the skill, the craft, the running or the goal power scaled down to our own level have we? With Aguero and Jesus up front the idea is that Man City have six or seven players with some part to play in their attack, and at least six with some defensive responsibilities in front of their keeper.

We already haven't an equivalent of Stones or Kompany at the back, our wingbacks aren't even poor man's versions of Danilo and Walker, our midfielders fulfil none of the criteria for midfielders in this system. I'm not sure that sticking Aguero and Jesus up front for us would solve the problems unless they came back to get the ball for themselves. AND THAT'S WHY GC HAS TO GO.

The major point GC has missed is that the only way to play football the right way is for us to be in the league to do it.

Danny Wilson didnt improve on Dean Saunders Dev ,our League position was worse when he left than when he took over.
I personally would give Caldwell more time ,not sure but isnt he on a one year rolling contract ? I may be mistaken but if thats the case we wont have to pay him as much compo if we got rid say end of September and we would still have time to turn the season around .But it comes back to my same old theory that if you are going to sack a manager you need to get someone in who is better .

Yeah Caldwell is on a one year rolling contract. Anybody going to the friendly match tomorrow night against Handsworth Parramore at Worksop? A few first teamers are meant to feature including Tommy.

A quarter of the season will be gone by the end of September Pooch and at GC's win ratio we'll have won ONE by that time. Below this division there is nothing.

Pooch I love the way you ignore the fact that Danny Wilson took over a team in complete free fall and kept us up (including the biggest win in that division in the whole season). The Chairman clearly wanted free fall again the following season. Under Danny we were drifting down gently, bringing in Caldwell just cut away the parachute and we did a David Bowie. Unfortunately the team that fell to earth is not proving to be full of strange alien inventions that make millions. We've just got wingbacks who can neither move back nor forward effectively (batteries apparently not included).

There are loads of managers out of work, there are loads more full of ideas at non-league clubs, there are even players in our team I'd back to do a better job.

If I was as unsuccessful as Caldwell has been AT ANY JOB I'd have resigned long ago. He could apply through Clearing, get himself a place at university, get a student loan and begin a new life. I'd help him, I used to work for Ucas.

So far we've had Lou Reed, Florence and the Machine, Woody Guthrie and now David Bowie who also recorded Heroes but I cant see that being applicable anytime soon to a Chesterfield team.
If we keep going down the musical theme route the fans could always take up the chant "Out Demons Out" pointing towards the directors box (Edgar Broughton by the way).
God only Knows where we are heading.

Edgar Broughton! Wow!

I've given you Talking Heads and Half Man Half Biscuit too ........

And as we are standing at "paranoia's poison door" wouldn't it be good to trot out to King Crimson and Twenty First Century Schzoid Man? Clearly the crowd ain't gonna come in for the football, maybe they'll show up for the music.

If we could drag that lot in for a concert "Back from the Dead plus a few live ones - The Tour" we could make more on 1 day than football can for the whole season. Maybe that's the way to go.
Incidentally Kevin Ayres did a track called "Songs from the Bottom of a Well" being as I don't think we could ever sink any lower than that, maybe that should become our run out "music". I use the term music loosely, its just a screaming mass of instruments playing nothing at all verging on insanity. All it needs is Viv Stanshall reading the Last Rites through a load hailer.
