I trust everyone's suitably cheerful and optimistic about the coming season?
Our campaign commences on Saturday at home to Bournemouth, and fans heading there are advised to take shades lest they be dazzled by all of Albion's new signings. At least, that's what we were led to believe earlier in the week, which is going to make Friday either a very exciting or (more likely) a very annoying day.
At least we have two over the line, and this game will be an opportunity to see what both Jay Rodriguez and Ahmed Hegazi have to offer in Albion colours. And of course, whatever your opinion on the wisdom of bringing him back (my own judgement right now doesn't stretch beyond it being a smart PR move by the club), there's no doubting that Sir Gary Megson will be given the reception on his return that a freeman of West Bromwich deserves.
Let's hope for the sake of everyone at the Hawthorns this month that it's a happy occasion all round.
"I would rather spend a holiday in Tuscany than in the Black Country, but if I were compelled to choose between living in West Bromwich or Florence, I should make straight for West Bromwich." - J.B. Priestley
