Adrien Silva being reported on twitter, 26 million deal,

seems unrealistic for us,

Portuguese Media reporting it.

Silva was linked with us some time ago and so this is typical Albion - sneaking about (understandably) in the shadows, developing their targets. Same with Musa who we were originally linked with before the season had ended.

Trouble is that "typical Albion" will also mean that another club will come in and 'whoosh' - they're gone Confused

Why can't we just pay the feckin going rate just for once and sign the player.

I'd imagine that Mr.Williams values him (even under current ridiculous Inflation) at less than £10m.
You would think that the Club work very scientifically in evaluating all prospective players and not just react to "the going rate", and that's the right way to do business. Any w*nkers like those employed at Wolves, Villa, Blues, etc must regret not doing the same, and that's probably why they're where they are.
I don't rate Gibbs at all; every match I've seen him he's been very lightweight. But he's about our level, and given the "£40m limit" that's been reported, I'd rather spend big in other areas. Nyom is not great, but he's almost as good as Gibbs in my opinion.
Start every day off with a smile and get it over with

Have to agree with talkSAFT on this - anything more than £10m for Gibbs is a pisstake as I don't rate him that highly, and we should move onto another target if Arsenal aren't prepared to accept what I'd say is a pretty generous offer.

Also I'd have to say that Ahmed Hegazi has looked very impressive so far and I'm hoping he can adjust the the Premier League. Will be an absolute bargain of a signing and will hopefully serve as a reminder that spending lots of money isn't always a guarantee for success!

Your opinions may well be right regarding Gibbs and are probably better informed than mine but my frustration is that this approach is always the same. We've seen it countless times in the last 4/6 transfer windows. We've being saying for 12 months that a left back was a priority; we failed to sign Schlupp last year (not that I'm sorry about that) but this window both Charlie Taylor and Andrew Robertson have passed us by. We now seem to have alighted on Gibbs who seems to be Pulis' preferred choice - if that is the case, then pay the extra £2 million and get him, if it's the player Pulis really wants. In the current climate, £2 million is nothing so why haggle over that. You may be right in your assessment that he's not worth £12 million but I would say that, in all honesty, none of the figures being quoted for players at present are justified - I know he scored a great goal in the week but I don't believe Rodriguez is worth £15 million, nowhere near. I could understand reticence over Gibbs if they're asking £20 million, maybe even £15 million, but they're not; they've valued him at £12 million. If left back is so critical, just pay it and sign him.
