What about Frank Griffin who scored the winning goal against Preston NE in the Cup Final of 1954.?

Tommy Glidden (1922- 1936) played over 400 games for the Baggies and was the skipper for two Cup Finals in the 1930's

2 players I liked, Sean Gregan signed from Preston, midfielder turned centre half as I remember and Phil Gilchrist centre half from I think, Oxford. Played around the same time too

Am I too late to enter 'Grandad' in the G category, or is that unfair to GMac? More to the point (but admittedly off topic) have we had an older player than him in modern times?

Don't know about outfield players, but didn't Dean Kiely play in goal in a cup match when he was goal keeping coach? He must have been late thirties or even 40!
