Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?

Won 4-1 but results mean nothing in pre-season its fitness and confidence which is important.

True Matt there is not much we can read into this other than it was an expected scoreline .
None of the non league fixtures will mean much as we are swapping and changing the team about ,we will only get an idea as the season gets closer and GC puts out his considered first eleven .

Not sure about that. We looked lost going forward at times and played more backward balls than we needed to. O'Grady was a no show but we scored 4 good goals and Dev, German scored a cracker and looked good second half. Parkin looked jittery and cost us the goal but neither keeper for us had a single shot to save. Maguire looked cool on the ball and a few of the new boys huffed and puffed but didn't really create a deal against poor opposition.
The one thing I really cant get my head around is that we were winning 4-1 and when they had a corner GC pulled everybody back in the box as he did with every corner ?? Whats that about, we were playing Sheff FC not Wednesday.
Work in progress for me but at least second half we created far more chances and could have had another couple.

The real worry for me was midfield. We just didn't seem to have one. I lost count the number of times Dennis was shouting for a through ball and there was nobody there to give it. The one time he got it he scored. The rest of the time he had to track back to the halfway line to try and get the ball.
All our forward play was based on the 2 wingers and crossing. Not Dennis's style and Mitchell wasted so many balls I lost count. He went for glory every time when a simple sideways ball would have ended with a goal.
Of the new boys was very impressed with Sinnot. For me German looked strong and hungry, could have had a few more. It was more of a stroll in the park for some but we need a solid midfielder desperately. There were times when they were just stroking the ball around but fortunately our defenders played well so it all came to nothing. It will be different against league opposition.
