Many of whom will have voted Tory. As I've previously said, austerity only benefits upper and middle management, not the people who work at the sharp end.

You're certainly right about Mundell. He either just sits there and grins inanely from a safe position behind his bosses or when pressed on anything, slavishly repeats his script time after time and ignores the question. No backbone in that man.
Regarding the Scots who changed to vote Tory, the major blame lies with Nicola Sturgeon who got so carried away with trying to pick a fight on Scottish independence that she repeatedly left herself wide open to accusations of not doing her day job. For example the Scottish Government has failed to pay out all EU farming subsidies to Scottish farmers. For the second year in a row, I may add. Has nobody got a calculator and a pen and a bit of paper? Ask their bank to do a transfer and it's sorted! Blaming the same computer problems two years in a row takes a brass neck and she's got one.

Another labour amendment......this time successfully forces government to allow ni women to receive terminations on nhs England. Something Jeremy hunt resisted even when these poor women were rape victims.
Think labour are going after the DUP. Who have just been skelped down. Their views on climate change, woman's rights, environment and sectarianism are totally backwards.
Finally we are seeing a labour party acting like an opposition.

0762, I'm certainly not influenced by certain media coverage against the SNP and also against the Tories. I take out what I think to be the truth and make my own mind up. You'll find that I agree with you quite a lot and disagree with you quite a lot. It's all about opinions and having a different opinion to you on various matters doesn't make me want to launch into a tirade against the people you are backing.
Threads like this one are democracy and freedom of speech at work. That's all for now.

Ritchie, I was just picking up on part of your thread that referred to 'getting on with the day job' - the use of this heavily loaded political line absolutely 'drives me bananas' as it's been continually misused by the usual suspects, unionist press/media and it's a small irritating item that is part of the blanket misrepresentations and exaggerations that I've read and listened to down the months. Other than that, I've no 'bone to pick' re a frank exchange of opinion in which I'll respectfully differ on occasions. I think there have been occasions when criticism of the FM and the SNP govt were in order - eg Sturgeon forgot what swept the SNP to power which was disaffection with unionist political parties who did not listen to the views of the electorate - Corbyn's almost deification should be an abject lesson for Nicola to ponder as she rediscovers her political acumen. However, the awareness of a massive unionist campaign up here in Scotland against the very ethos re the right of the independence movement, and others who certainly feel they could support it and 'swing that way', must be emphasised. My own view is that the SNP 'go hard line' re certain issues incl how to effectively deal with a ludicrous unionist press and media coverage that clearly does not like the existence of the Scottish independence movement and they fear the possible consequences that wouldn't suit their biased agenda!! Hibeejim used the word 'emotive' and the issue most certainly is emotive for lotsa resident Scots and many other supporters of the Yes movement when it comes to this kinda stuff! IMO nowt wrong with that!

Just looking at the recent analysis of political contributions up to spring 2017 to all UK political parties and, of the total of £40M, a whopping £25M donated to the scumbag Tory party and notably from their reverent business partners - aye!! the same ones that they back and retrospectively these people back their horribly divisive ideologies! Is this our UK version of how democracy works and how you can 'fire lotsa money' to force your political will on the people of a country. Indeed, wasn't there a smaller version of this philosophy when we had a massively financed political campaign by certain business people to force a Brexit result and it worked by swinging the vote away from the 50% mark!! Democracy at work in the UK - I spit at that suggestion and no wonder many resident Scots like myself wanna get away from all this kinda shit that is bandied under a disguise of being truly democratic but in our case fanatically unionist but with piles of money/bought anti indy media and other shit techniques attached to it in order to avert the threat of Scot indy!
