WBA Transfer Window - Final Day

Charlie Taylor deal could be off, despite having talks with player and agent about personal terms, unless Leeds agree a fee for him. Albion are not prepared to let it run and go to tribunal where the final costs would be an unknown

If we think he's the right player, that is madness.

Deal agreed, personal wages, contract etc our end unfortunately we dont seem to want to spend OVER 3.5 million on a player we deem good enough to play in the Premiership, Doh
Poor on Albion's part ,
The money and profit this club has made over recent seasons must be being laughed at in other quarters,
Think Leeds want 5 Million so whats the big deal ?
New owners if this is how our summer activity is to be measured
Be prepared to be disappointed yet again Confused

WEST BROM have ditched their bid to land Leeds full back Charlie Taylor.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis says West Brom won’t take the risk of going to tribunal for the 23-year-old.

Taylor is out of contract and will not be short of suitors but West Brom were eager to do a cash deal and get the matter sorted.

They are believed to have offered around £3.5m but been told by Leeds that it falls short of their valuation.

Pulis said: “We wouldn’t go to tribunal on it. You could do that and they put an extraordinary price on it.

“It’s a risk that’s not worth taking. We wanted to find out what the price was.”

Stuart Armstrong linked according to the Express.

WEST BROM have joined the chase to sign Celtic and Scotland star Stuart Armstrong.

Stuart Armstrong is a target for West Brom, Brighton and Everton
Baggies boss Tony Pulis sent north of England scout Andy Thorn to Pittodrie on Friday to run the rule over the Hoops midfielder in the champions’ 3-1 victory over Aberdeen. Brighton and Everton are also potential bidders for Armstrong who is about to start the final season of his current Celtic contract.

But West Brom are now looking to muscle in and provide another Premier League option for Armstrong to consider.

Scotland team-mates Darren Fletcher and James Morrison are already at the Hawthorns and both raved about Armstrong’s performance in his international bow against Slovenia in March.
Tony Pulis sent scout Andy Thorn to watch Armstrong in action against Aberdeen
West Brom are now on the case and would not baulk at a fee in the region of £8 million and wages in excess of £30,000-a-week for the former Dundee United star.
Armstrong is happy at Celtic and Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate for the midfielder to stay put and commit to a new four-year deal and they want a deal tied up before the Cup Final and potential treble joy at Hampden on May 27.
However, the 25-year-old holds all the aces and knows he can hang fire on a new deal to weigh up all the offers before deciding where his future lies.

Sorry guys, this is madness!! This is a 24 year old English player who appears to have the potential to step up a level to the prem and you won't pay more than $3.5m for him?? That is 3.5% of the windfall you will get for being in the prem and even though I hate L**ds with a passion bringing kids through an academy costs money and this is one of the few ways we see some of the Prem money trickle down within English football. Lets see what happens but if you don't buy him then lets expect to see you to go abroad and pay 10m for another virtually unknown foreign player instead and potentially stunt the growth of a promising young English player!!!

Sorry, rant over!!!

St Charles, you are right, it might just be a dangerous bargaining tactic, " we won't be held hostage " etc etc, we moan and shout when the big four / six come in and steal our youth team players for their D and E teams for next to nothing but we are acting in the same way. yes he is out of contract but Leeds have invested time and money and they deserve a return on that. We are linked with 30 or 40 million pound foreign players, he is young and British, a gamble in the top flight but then so is a foreign player .... don't negotiate by making threats ...May / EU also take note. He fills a position we are desperate for ..... how is he feeling right now. Hope it is all a smoke screen.

Reports that Izzy Brown may be a 3 million pound target for Huddersfield in the summer if they gain promotion to the greed league. Would anyone one welcome him back?

20 years old may have grown up a little, boyhood team did not quite work out. May appreciate Albion more if he returned.

I can't help but think it would be pretty humiliating for him to return to the Hawthorns. I never saw him play although all reports testify to his talent while he was with us. However, you have to consider whether he has progressed much since he went to Chelsea so not sure if he would add a great deal to what either currently have or need

True Steve, but how much effort do Chelski put or more importantly have to put into progressing players? A club of the alleged status of Chelski expect all of their "real" players to be the finished article.

You're probably right. Loftus-Cheek has been touted as a future England and Chelsea star but seems to have disappeared off the radar and doesn't seem to have played much this season. Mind you, with the exception of Sam Field in the last few games (although he was back on the bench last night), our record under Pulis of playing our academy players is pretty poor.
