So I wonder if all those town fans who said they would stay away because we signed him will be creeping back in with their tails between their legs ?

I'm sorry Pooch but I think Ched has probably survived mentally on cherished dreams of being declared innocent and when he reads the reaction to this verdict I think HE, like the girl, will need help coming to terms with the rest of his life.
I'm afraid many pro' footballers exist in an arrested-development bubble and some tend to remain seventeen-year-old man-boys sometimes even for life ...... Women do throw themselves at them, girls wanna be WAGS, amazing as that seems, and players expect to hear the answer yes to any query. They are testosterone bombs waiting to go off! Most players never become aware of the real world's opinion. I'm sure Ched IS now aware. He has exchanged the guilty verdict for one of slimeball. I hope his girlfriend's amazing support helps him through. Whether he'll be the same player or the same person I don't know. I do think police incompetence and eagerness to convict a celebrity lie at the heart of a case which has damaged all concerned and has almost certainly added to the reticence of all abused people to involve the law. If Ched can put all of this behind him when he's on the field Chesterfield has the bargain centre forward of all time, but I do think it is going to be hard for him. If I were his rich father-in-law-to-be I'd be buying him lots of sessions of psychiatric help. If I were Chesterfield I'd be doing that too. Whether supporters who stayed away after this signing, if there really were any, will "slink back" I've no idea. This was a case with no good outcomes. It wasn't To Kill a Mockingbird.

I appreciate what you're saying Dev ,he doesnt come out of this well but I think its a fact that football is a sleazy ,slimy ,immoral industry nowadays and this story is just another example.
All morals aside I still think it will have been a shrewd move to sign him when we did and it really is a win win situation providing he gets fit again and back into some sort of form.I'm a gambling man and for me this could be the gamble of the year.

We obviously need him as we slide back to Division Two. We also need Charlie Raglan. (Don't know if he even played today, but I see Oxford stopped Bradford - something we didn't even come close to doing.)
I wish Ched had said sorry for wrecking another human being's life. If a fellow human being is vulnerable it isn't the same as an open goal.

Well that's what I thought would happen.
If I were Ched I would sign for anyone but them. They abandoned him to prison, tried to grab him when he was out and chickened at the outcry. It doesn't say much for Ched he'd even consider them. But he's clearly been marking time for us. We should ask £1million.

So far I am not aware of him showing anything like the sort of form or ability that he appeared to have before. You guys are better placed than any to comment on that, so is he anywhere near the player he was?? With them getting promoted I suppose they see this as a calculated gamble that they can catch lightening in a bottle twice, but he has never really shown any form in the Championship and I think this might be a step or two too far for him now.

To be fair he did show some bursts of form with us.
But his goalscoring was ALWAYS spasmodic. His 35-goal goalrush came fairly much out of nowhere. We clearly thought he was a good gamble and got ourselves relegated. No reason The Blades can't do equally well.

Im gutted hes going ,a fit Ched would have ripped League Two apart.

Blue, we're selling the family silver. That £500k will find its way out of the club and into DA's families pockets quicker than you can say Jack Robinson. The total debt will still miraculously be even more afterwards.
