I share similar sentiments Jim but the reality of 'drip feed success' is there for all to see and it's been there for a long time for all the 'lesser Scottish footie clubs' that edgie describes as a 'much of muchness' about them. My biggest irritation is watching the 'dross' that riddles the bottom of the SPL and their efforts to survive, season after season and we are not currently in that footie league!! Same view applies to Dundee United as well and the whole questionable structure of our top leagues - it's an old topic but I aint gonna 'go there' any more - previously well debated on this board.

And the hoops move to another all time domestic 'unbeaten record' with a 2-5 battling win v Saint Johnstone although one must take into account some shocking 'game changing' decisions by the ref, Craig Thomson! Dembele returns from injury and immediately contributes with another 'hat trick' to enhance his valuation and prob increase the number of 'suitors' who wanna sign him up with a massive transfer fee and wages.

Records are there to be broken but its a bit sad that a record held by the best Scottish side ever has been beaten by a team who truly are not a patch on them!!!! This isn't a special Celtic team by any stretch, there have been many others down the years better than them, but this is singularly the most unchallenged Celtic team ever!!! They deserve recognition for what they have recieved, would have been good if some way the record books would show an * next to it to then denote the quality of the team they have eclipsed!!!
As I said, records are there to be broken!!

I disagree, i think this is actually now a very good celtic side that has been transformed by rodgers. Not as good as the lions obviously or o'neills seville side but they are undeniably a very good attacking team and play the game in the right spirit.
If you start putting * alongside teams for achieving things in whatever context, then the game is up the pole.

I don't deny this is a good team, its just not a patch on the team that held the record. Its always good to see records broken, I suppose its always nice to be able to say they are better than the previous holders and as you say that is clearly not the case here.

Aye underlined by their new interim accounts. Their turnover has doubled and they have over 18 mill in the bank. Little being spent in January.
With hertz and aberdeen looking at their stadiums and sevco unsustainable no one is going to be challenging them this decade for the league anyway.

This has happened before Celtic dominated in the 60s
Rangers in the 90s
Both teams reached a glass celling and couldn't improve, if we win 10 in a row we won it because we deserved it.
The club has been well run since Fergus took over, (apart from a 4 year spell during MON when we were competing with dead co and their financial doping).
In theory we should really be doing 17 in a row and would be if it wasn't for blatant cheating on a massive scale.
Are Celtic to big for Scottish football ?...no
Does Scottish football have to change ? ..Yes
Simple steps
1) we do not have the population to support 42 senior clubs, that should be cut to 22 at the most.
2) a better TV deal and a better split, we sell our product far to cheaply
3) we need to force teams to bring through Scottish players.

Celtic's unbeaten record continues with a 2-2 draw v Ross County but their successive run of 12 matches is over! Also a huge debate unfolding re the role of the ref in this match with another disgraceful pk decision against Celtic for the equalising goal - clearly a blatant Schalke 'dive', no challenge whatsoever, and the follow on from this latest refereeing fiasco is a straight red card for Broony who now appears to miss the OF Scot Cup semi-final due to the nature of his offence against County's Boyce!! IMO the ref's role in this whole fiasco is massive in a match in which the game was just 'petering out' in the dying mins!! Couple this incident with yesterday's Motherwell 'phantom goal' and the poor ref debate continues regardless and this guy Robertson should be immediately demoted - Rodgers face an 'absolute picture' at the end of this match, and Robertson slated in post match comments on Sky Sport and bbc radio! Listening to Rodgers' good, pragmatic post match comments, I'll add a last comment - 'was this a match-fixing incident or is there an agenda'? Before answering that question just look at the unimpeded view and decent position of this ref (+ his AR who had a a great lateral view from about 12 metres!) and the blatant nature of this 'dive' - one of the worst that Rodgers has apparently witnessed! Also Broony being slated but this was a 'heat of the moment' situation and Broony is a winner who was clearly 'raging'! Should've known better? Yes but I can understand how it came about - should never have happened TBF!!
