Are we going to be able to keep hold of Gary ?

I hear what youre saying about those teams but DA would not let that happen .I'm also wary of calling for new owners ,how do we know they will be better than DA ? Sometimes its a case of better the devil you know. Look at recent examples of new owners ruining clubs ,Coventry ,Blackburn and Orient spring to mind .I also believe Caldwell is on a rolling one year contract so come October it wont be costing much if he fails .

Matt is right Blue.

Yesterday's performance must be one of the lamest in Chesterfield's long history. Clearly the manager is (or should be) responsible for team discipline. In a home game we committed 17 fouls, had a player sent off before halftime, had two efforts on goal neither of which were accurate and conceded 4 goals. How much worse can a team do? How much worse can they be? Newport would piss on us at the moment and they are next to bottom of the league we'll be in next season. Unless DA sells the club (an' he ain't even tryin' is he?) or changes policy and injects cash and becomes chairman again our recruitment options will be freebies. And so far our manager has showed ZERO ability in the recruitment stakes, he can't buy our way out of this so we are relying on Guy Branston's brain! Did you ever in your wildest dreams think we'd be relying on Guy Branston's brain?

Leyton Orient are about to slide out of the league. Do we need a written warning about the danger to a club of debt, a rogue wealthy owner and a set of depressed players?

Read the bollocks GC was talking  before the game, then look what happened. To activate the tiniest, vaguest chance we had of avoiding relegation for at least a few days we needed to win and score goals. So Ched is conveniently injured yet again to avoid lowering his profile even further ......... what response from the manager to the possible need to find a goal? Decides the youngster he'll sit on the bench with the set of non-scorers he likes to see there is Charlie Wakefield. I'm all for him being there, but wouldn't you have thought a young lad who has been in a rich vein of goals might just have been worth a seat? Luckily it didn't matter we weren't even in the game by the fifteenth minute.

(Tobi Sho-Silva scored two from Bromley yesterday didn't he? We could either try to get him for next season, or if we wait two years we can play against him! By the way, look him up, his full name is magnificent, worth signing him on that alone.)

The worrying thing is I don't think we've hit rock bottom.

If we had kept Cook and he brought in a few players in to replace the one's we had sold we would have been challenging for promotion the season after finishing in the playoffs.

Fans who say we are too big to get relegated from the football league and it won't happen just look at Stockport, Darlington, Cheltenham, Tranmere, Lincoln City, Wrexham, York City, Torquay United. Look at Leyton Orient they were in the playoff final against Rotherham and that was in 2013-2014 season, the next season they were relegated into L2 and last season they finished just outside the L2 playoff places and now they sit bottom of L2 face going out of the league and possibly out of business.

Blue, you need to take the blinkers off. GC is obviously a crap man manager. He cant even get his players up for a scrap. He has "lost contact" with a player FFS. His choice of signings in the window were just lame and his tactics stink. We would never have been in this position with DW still here and your continuing support for the guy is just baffling. Your not related are you?
Can you please tell me just 1 positive since his arrival? Southend yesterday were nothing special, just a bang average lge 1 side. They made us look like Brampton Rovers U11's - no disrespect to the kids.
If he doesn't go there is a serious risk of us dropping again next season. That's a simple fact. DA can turn the Proact into a dog track and Casino, don't think for 1 minute he wouldn't. He would still have an asset worth a few million.
I just dread to think of the dross "Gaza" and "Branno" will bring in. By the time he has been here a year we could be dead and buried. Get rid now whilst we still have a chance or go to church and pray tomorrow that Wigan have a brain lapse and take him back.

I agree with every comment on here http://www.thecfss.co.uk/forums/index.ph...opic=60058

Barnet have just sacked there manager for winning 1 out of 11 while our manager has won 2 out of 16.

12 Pts out of a possibly 48 we've got under Caldwell.

So who is going to be the new owner and manager its all up in the air and are they going to improve us ? i genuinely believe DA when he says he will give us a top 6 budget for next season and if that happens i expect Gaz to get us promoted or play offs at least.
Southend are one of the better teams in League One hence them flirting with the play offs, the league table doesn't lie at this stage of the season .
Matt youre contradicting yourself you're saying we should sell up to improve us but thats exactly what Orient did and look what has happened to them.
Be careful what you wish for .

I like you Blue, same goes for Dancing and Devon. It's great to chat and debate about Chesterfield and things in general even if our opinions are different. The problem we've got Blue is DA wants to sell the club but who is going to buy a L2 club for £10 million plus? If we were in the Championship or top half of L1 it would be a different story.

The players we will have next season will be free transfers, non-league players and youth players, I doubt we will have a budget to go out and buy a player which costs a lot. GC came in, in January and he brought in players on loan who I'm afraid haven't worked out and haven't stepped up to the plate but do they care? Probably not as they will go back to there parent clubs sitting in the reserves or youth teams waiting for the next loan spell. We signed a player who has apparently 'Lost contact', whatever that means.

There seems to be no fight, passion, leadership or even direction and its extremely worrying. When GC was appointed there were 19 games left of the season that's 57 points on offer we only needed 25-30 to stay up but we've managed to get 12 points so far and I can't see us getting anymore in the remaining three games of the season. His tactics haven't worked out, playing three at the back when we don't have the right players for it has cost us dearly in matches. Look back at highlights of matches other teams seem to cut through us like a knife through butter and three at the back won't work in L2 as we will be found out very quickly early on. We've made too many defensive mistakes and seem to invite teams on to attack at us while we sit back and it seems we are getting a player sent off every match.

By the way Southend's team on Friday wasn't there strongest.

I guess we all have to wait and see what happens over the Summer with budgets and transfers but like a lot of Chesterfield fans it doesn't fill you with hope of what we've seen so far.

I cant argue with most of that Matt and there is no doubt this last few months have been disappointing to say the least.
I just think if Caldwell was a rookie in his first job id say he wasnt up to it but he is a proven manager with Wigan and before you all say he had the budget well so has rafa and wilder so are you decrying them as bad managers ? .
Yesterday was awful but i cannot believe he is as bad as it looks and no matter what happens he will be here next season and i havent got a problem with letting him put his own team together .

Wilder and Rafa are very experienced though. Wilder got Oxford in the league, got Northampton promoted into L1 and now has got Sheffield United back in the Championship.

GC has only managed at Wigan before he joined us and a lot of the players he had in L1 with Wigan were Championship quality players. GC hasn't been in this situation before so he will find it tough but I will give him a chance to build his own team and see what happens but like I say it doesn't fill fans with confidence with the players he bought in during the January transfer window.

Let's see what happens in the summer and where we are after 10 games in L2.

All of this comes back to DA, whether he intended and foresaw it all or not. If he intends to give us a decent budget next season why didn't he try to save us this time round? Why did he prompt the entire club's descent into chaos (no proper board, a manager whose only experience of a relegation battle ended in relegation from the Championship with Wigan, a CEO who became Director of Football and then was made redundant all in a matter of weeks, a massive debt ........)? So do we believe DA and are GC and the gorilla capable of recruiting a team for next season?

Unless there is a DA cash-injection Matt is right we'll be looking at Freebies who are happy on modest wages. There are non-leaguers available who could step up, but we do have to be aware that especially with the younger players competition is tough. Bigger clubs are thinking Jamie Vardy and they are likely to move quickly. More quickly than us! In the recent weeks Middlesbrough signed a goalscoring midfielder called Lewis Wing from Shildon, approached Blyth Spartans' Luke Armstrong and Leicester grabbed Stafford Rangers' Josh Gordon. But in view of the fact that our only strength appears to be the youngsters we have coming through perhaps we need to some experience in the signings we make. If Dagenham don't go up their driving mid-twenties midfielder Corey Whitely gets a rave most weeks, Woking have Gozie Ugwu who has league experience and has scored 15 so far this season and my mate Tobi Sho-Silva is now a man with some experience not a boy. The bigger clubs are less interested in these players because they are may have Division One potential only. BUT the point I'm trying to make is that though there are a lot of players out there both in the league and outside it that we might sign, doing well out of it is difficult. Gambles are gambles because there is a potential to lose ....... and I'm guessing DA will be sending us into the the gambles market.

First place I'd visit if I were Guy the gorilla, and I've said this before is Kidderminster. They've done well in National League with a young team and they have several players who might make it for us. Francis-Angol started life at Spurs, Nti is a possible and Elton Ngwatala simply ought to be be at a higher level. Unfortunately if we move at our usual pace and don't sign anyone until late June we can forget it, book our place on the Orient Express and get ready for Guiseley away.
