He couldn't get on the field at Preston AND he was FAT. AND he knew he still had enough reputation to get a contract somewhere like Chesterfield.
He was never known for work rate at Wolves or Plymouth, but he was a genuinely good player. Dancing's right! This new worker SEB has had his agent whisper in his his ear. And what he said was EVO-STICK.

So lets get this right ,do you want him to be crap or good until the end of the season ?

I'd like SEB not to be in the team at all. When we needed him he was half-pace. Now he's apparently going to go chest-out when avoiding relegation for us is a thing of the past.
My conclusion would be that this is a player who cares nothing about his team and the fans. He is his own greatest interest. His position in the pecking-order would behind any Chesterfield player and in front of any loanee. He's a player I've liked but ending up in a relegation dog-fight when you've a front two like Lee Novak and Sylvain Ebanks-Blake should've told you someone wasn't pulling their weight (and it wasn't Novak!) The man has a lot to answer for and shouldn't easily be forgiven (IMO of course). The one thing you always got from Danny Wilson was effort. It can't be unrelated that the one player he cast into outer darkness was SEB.

Did we always get effort under Wilson Dev ? I dont think we got much of anything .
So you think Caldwell ,who tomorrow is desperate for a win ,should drop his current best striker and the only one looking like scoring ?

I think the team was trying under Danny, as much as any team does when it contains an up and down player like Jay O'Shea, but it wasn't quite imbued with Danny's spirit. I don't think it is any easier to pass on a commitment level you find natural than it is to pass on skills you had mastered by the age of nine ........ (Bobby Charlton could never get players to do what he could hardly help doing on a pitch!)
I think serious injury blunted some of SEB's ability. But I also think he has taken the lazy man's option since. He's taken big money from us and returned NOTHING. And I'd have no worries about dropping a laughable supposed top-scorer who's notched a couple of times since August. When we have next to no efforts on goal it can't be just the fault of the midfield can it? This playing-for-your-contract old-proing used to be commonplace. Now with so much media and social media coverage it is rarer. Not only is SEB outdated and behaving like a relic from a bygone era, he's now not even in the bargain bucket. Unless some idiot at Chesterfield steps in, he won't be in league football next season. |
