Goal Fest at the Proact

2 goals in 90 minutes - wow sounds exciting, didn't even listen on the radio. Glad I got some gardening done. It looks a whole lot neater. My Delphiniums are coming on a treat. Will get a few more hours in on Tuesday night.

Majority of that post sound like an innuendo.

Matt, what are trying to imply? My Delphiniums really are doing well. Have managed to keep the slugs off them this year. If you need any gardening tips I'm your man.

Well we are down thats for sure.We needed to win this one to have the slimmest of chances.
The problem with Calders is that he is trying to play brand of football that we dont have the players for.Too many sloppy passes in the middle of the park with Grimshaw Gardner,Angel and Donohue all guilty on numerous occasions.
Is there any sign of improvement ? Well it was arguably the best home performance although thats not saying much I guess.
Also we do look like we have tightened up defensively which,if we can muster any kind of attacking force ,will always give us chance of getting a result.
Having complained about the attack actually SEB and Dennis put really good shifts in but had little support from the rest of which Dimaio and Hird did best but we just lack creativity its as simple as that .

I know the Press Association stats aren't super-accurate but 50% possession resulting in 4 shots for us (at home) and 21 for Shrewsbury tells a sad story. Trying hard up front isn't enough. We hoped Dennis would be a scorer not a worker and SEB sadly seems a light of former days. And now Evatt's injured, how seriously ...... he is after all the one with guts?

Are all our players injured, and what is happening to them? German and Beesley, dead, exiled to Iceland, injured? It now takes the club about a week to put up an reserve team report ...... Evans, injured I suppose, how badly two weeks they say and then? McGinn hobbling to the reserves like Mrs Doyle? Is Tommy Lee ever going to play again? Poor guy, can he write a postcard yet? Graham, is his cruciate progressing, or is it the end for him?. El-Fitouri signed played, dropped, sub, disappeared. Even The Hump! Is there a black hole at the Proact, the Whitt Moor Triangle? And if there is, how long before Mr Caldwell wanders aimlessly into the portal? Rowley misses a shoot-out penalty for the reserves and gets on the bench for the first team ............ Gary's looking after the Here and Now, sounds a bit like Specsavers.

Dancing is growing Delphiniums, Queen of Bob's Border or something. Blue; the most beautiful blue. The flower, not you Pooch. He can't stay away ....... surely you can't do Delphiniums on Tuesday night. can you? Not during a goal fest.

Yes Pooch, I'm sorry, we are down. Peterborough - well we might beat them if it rains a bit and they don't feel like it, on the other hand if they turn up we could get hammered.

Is Caldwell's tactics park the bus and hit them on the counter? Because to do that you need everyone behind the ball and have only a lone striker upfront. Yesterday Shrewsbury had 21 shots and 11 were on target, we had 4 shots and 1 was on target now this seems to be happening far too often its like we are inviting the opposition to come and have a go at us and that's not football that's just battering down the hatches and doors and hoping we can grind out results.

Not trying to imply anything Dancing. Always find the Winter and early spring as most things in the garden are either dead or not doing anything just like our season.

Devon I think we've been down for a while unless we can win the remaining 9 games but to do that we need a bloody miracle and quickly!!

After Peterborough lost to Oxford yesterday they will be looking for a reaction and it could end up in double figures especially if they turn up.

Matt, Caldwells tactics are just non existent. The whole idea seems to be we absorb all the pressure for 85 mins then try and sneak a winner in the last 5. Problem is by 85 mins we are usually losing. He thinks we have played well in some of our games and that's what worries me - we have been dire. In all honesty I worry for our safety next season if he is in charge. He has no idea whatsoever.
The only game under him that was entertaining was his very first game against Wimbledon which we deserved to win. We lined up 4-4-2 and that's the only game he has lined up that way. He insists on playing 3 at the back even though its obvious to every single supporter that we don't have the players to do it - he thinks we do. He persists in playing players out of position even though we have the natural players for thos positions available and very often on the pitch in unfamiliar positions. If he is given our budget for next season I really do see us down at the bottom of Lge2.
The loanees he brought in are just abysmal. If he couldn't get that right, whats the chance of him putting a good team together?
When DW got the push we were 5th from bottom. He had long term injuries to contend with. Since Caldwells arrival, Jones Angel and Mcginn have returned and we have slid further and further down. Had DW been in charge would we be in the same position? I think not. Our last 5 home games have been against teams near the bottom. We should have won at least 3 of those and we haven't won 1.
DW might not have given a good interview but he knew what his players were capable of even if their talent was limited.

Dancing ,Wilson was taking us down ,we were getting regularly thrashed even by teams in lower divisons ,it was embarrassing and that was with O Shea and Gboly in the team.
It seems we have tightened up under Caldwell and as Ive repeatedly said if you let zero or one goal in you always have a chance of getting results ,maybe we have been riding our luck with the stats against us and time will tell on that .
Its not easy on the eye at the moment and I dont know how long to give him ,I'm thinking 10 games into next season with his own recruits.
He has done it with Wigan so he has credentials and is still young and probably still learning his trade ,I hope the powers that be stick with him at least for now just in the hope he can get us improving. There are small signs of that recently,we have been unlucky to come up against in form teams of late but Tuesday we come up against a team who are in a bit of a slump so there will be no excuses.

Only thrashings we had with Wilson were the Wycombe cup game, Sheffield United at home, Peterborough away and Accrington at home in the EFL Trophy where we sent out a team of first teamers and youngsters.

I agree with Dancing (Sound like Cameron 'I agree with Nick') I think if Wilson had stayed on we would have been out the drop zone and would have picked up wins against teams around us and even higher than us. Caldwell has come in and brought in players on loan who are ok but haven't been outstanding and these players aren't on contract there only on loan so they will go back to Birmingham and Preston etc when we are relegated in L2.

Yeah I think we should give him 10 games in L2 next season and see what sort of squad he builds but so far he hasn't won many fans over with his signings.

He managed it at Wigan because he had parachute payments from when they got relegated from the Premier League and Wigan got promoted because they had players like Craig Davies, Max Power, David Perkins, Jordy Hiwula, Reece James etc these are Championship standard players. With our budget next season we won't be able to buy Championship standard players our team next season will be made up of free transfers, loanees, youth players and players from non-league. Now free transfers, youth players and non-league players aren't a bad thing but I just think we need to be realistic and that we may not be in the promotion places or even playoffs next season.

Right now I would take back Armand Gnanduillet.
