Personally I think Allan Nyom is our best left back for ages..... and he's right footed. Tongue

Quite possibly. However, the competition is:

Nicky Shorey
Liam Ridgewell
Goran Popov
Jason Davidson
Sebastian Pocognoli
Chris Brunt
Brendan Galloway

(Fair enough, Poco seemed to get a raw deal and Brunty always put a shift in, but still, it's not really a list of Derek Stathams, is it?)

He was good on his debut and the 1/2 hour he had in previous game as sub (as I remember), but not so good since - maybe not Prem (?)
We're apparently still in for Schlupp or Charlie Taylor, though.

Nyom had an absolute mare at Liverpool but has been good in every other game so I can forgive him for that one.

Best modern day Albion left back is Neil Clement for my money. Absolute wand of a left foot and only cost us £150,000 if I recall correctly.

As an overall servant to the club, bearing in mind all the goals he scored, then Clem probably edges it. I think that in a strictly defensive capacity, Paul Robinson in his first two or three seasons was the better left-back, but sadly that didn't last.

Derek Statham would never make it these days at full-back. The game has progressed (apparently). Discuss.

TS I can see the tongue in your cheek as you typed that Laugh

Statham was probably the best LB the club has ever had and I'm sure he would be in most fans first ALBION 11.

I would feel sorry for most of todays RB's if Statham was still playing......what a player he was. Living In Spain now playing Golf on a daily basis and bigger than a small family Saloon. Whistle

Have to say, tonight he looked like a cult hero in the making. Covered some serious miles, and he's not afraid to have a sniff around the opposition box too. Still not sure he's rock solid on the defensive side, but probably better than anyone else we've had these last six years.

He had a good game tonight, even having a go at goal with his right foot and he's a left back that hardly ever uses his left.

Statham for me.

Statham for me.
