The emphasis on "the sovereignty of parliament" in that ruling is a right kick in balls for the brexiteers. And a strong hint that the supreme court appeal will find the same way.
They can always try the European court of justice is suppose.

Ha ha ha! Yep Jim, it's a constitutional judgement and there's no doubt the Tory govt will appeal it! It's a 'massive spanner in the works' and there will be a huge proportion of people within May's own Conservative party who will be quietly celebrating!! I'd luv to see Farage's smarmy face after this historic ruling!!

Probably will be overturned by Supreme Court however 421 out of 675 constituencies voted to leave do their MO's vote against constituents wishes. Probably election next year, Labour gets annihilated in Northern areas, Tory majority larger than now will still go through
Why should a man go to work, if he has the health and strength to stay in bed?

I've already seen comments from a number of MPs saying even though they wanted to remain, the vote didn't go that way and they will honor the result of the referendum. I definitely see an early General Election being the result of this!!

I reckon it won't but your missing the point. Now Theresa may and her 3 clowns have to have a thorough debate and put forward coherent, clear plans for what they intend from this referendum before parliament. No more hiding behind "brexit is brexit".
As it stands what this unelected boot was attempting to do was illegal and ironically doing exactly what the brexiteers main gripe about Brussels was "unelected bureaucrats forcing laws on us".

From what I've read they are not sure what type of debate is actually required yet!! It could simply be a vote by MPs or a thorough debate or anything in between!! But even if there is a debate, what will it actually debate? From what I can tell it will be a wish list of what they hope to achieve out of the negotiations but until those negotiations actually take place we have no idea what the EU will let's us get away with. If we are to pull out I would also prefer we didn't have to show our hand in public, makes negotiating difficult!!

Yep! That will be an intriguing debate if it materialises and particularly when we're already observing the unconvincing and unimpressive manner in which some fairly unintelligent Tory govt place men/women have indeed gone about their business so far! These representative MPs were never the appropriate officials to commandeer any kind of exit whatsoever anyway. It also looks like the Scottish govt intends to become involved in the next legal challenge with their own legal advisers 'in tow'. The 'plot thickens' even further as fervent opponents of this Brexit proposal are now rallying in a new found positive momentum to stop such utter folly all caused by shit Tory party infighting and a weak PM who should've known better and 'let sleeping dogs lie'!!

Davis has confirmed it will have to be a full debate as an act of parliament will have to be passed. So no it wont be a vote on a narrow resolution.
All this "lets not show our hand" talk is nonsense IMO and masks the fact they haven't a clue what they are doing. The argument was that this vote was caused by immigration, well we can't have single market entry without freedom of movement. That's a starting point in the same way that Scotland was to be denied the pound in our referendum.
Ultimately clarity about the government’s objectives would enable a serious discussion with other Member States to get underway, and minimise economic damage. If may cant win in the supreme court,i reckon you can kiss goodbye to starting this in march next year too. So with that in mind you may well be right about a general election - but a vote of no confidence would be required first.

Parliamentary voted 6 to 1 for the EU ref clearly stated on ballot papers they would implement the result. Early Gen Election, Tories to win with increased majority, Labour gets annihilated with anti EU party commonly known as UKIP getting Northern Labour seats. One final point 415 seats voted to leave out of 675 MP's voted in to serve their constituents
As for unelected does Gordon Brown ring a bell
