Best attendances for Hibs in 43 years!
#1
For me it's no surprise to read this latest headline in the EEN and a positive one at that! IMO a lotta Embro 'myths' re Hibs 'pulling power', never ever filling our stadium to capacity, were 'blown away' by the historic scenes when Hibs won the Scottish Cup final and the massive crowds the following day in Embro, estimated to be 150k+, just confirmed why I always knew this fact anyway - Hibernian FC has a massive 'latent support' in the city and the outlying areas and it was proved on the Sunday after that SC final - I've got my own photos and video from the East End, Leith Walk to Leith Links - you could hardly see the grass at Leith Links as the massive crowd of cheering fans was amazing. Of course, drawing regular big crowds at home is all down to  winning on the pitch and hardly ever losing - the difference is 'night n day' if that can't be attained and Hibs must strive to keep the 'feel good factor' alive for as long as possible esp with the positive financial backing that they've drawn in during the past 5-6months. That can only be done by winning regularly at this Championship level of footie!

But that's to be expected!! Hibs built the stadium with a spare capacity to cover for the increasing population in Embro thereby eventually attracting bigger attendances and that's a fact - it was set out in the consultation document at that time and it's still a long term target to attain - fact! Also Hibs have filled the ER Stadium contrary to many jibes that it would never be done - fact! The potential is there to fill the stadium and the main point being made is that Hibs definitely have that support to do it but success will always be the key to draw in the 'latent support' that will back them - easier said than done but the same applies to almost every footie club in Scotland! In other words, they all can't be successful apart from Celtic, a club that has the 'financial clout' to guarantee that kinda success.

As negative as ever Inverurie Jambo (Start what???? It's a contrary view re attendances!!) since the very first time you appeared on this board with your very first 'jibe' and looking for a reaction! Thumb down A Hearts fan with some kinda biased agenda on a Hibs board - f###### right and you just proved it again after being unseen and unheard for long enough - sheer bliss!! Maybe 'stalking' has not gone out of fashion after all!!! Thumb down
