Maidenhead Remain Intact
#1
The consensus appears to be we are playing with wing backs who lack the pace and ability to play the position. There are doubts about our ability to create from central midfield. Sheridan confirmed he wants the ball moved even faster which explains why Rowley went into hot-potato mode on Saturday. And up front we belt balls up to Boden which are no use to him, whilst Mandeville loses the ball a lot trying to make something happen.

As usual it took Evans up from the back to get us on the score sheet.

We do not have a player on the books capable of going wide and stretching the opposition.

We had a lot of efforts on goal but it took two defenders going up to break Maidenhead down.

We do not have a quick player in the squad unless it is Spyrou.

We do not have a physically powerful player capable of bursting forward.

Without Denton we lack any target for passes or even hopeful hooves and Boden needs someone to feed off.

We have an impossible overload of defensively minded midfield players.

The only midfield player we have who might have the desire to control a game is too easily knocked off the ball and has obviously been instructed to get shut sharpish in any case.

Do we need signings? The fans seem to agree our need is urgent: the manager is convinced that when injured players return to fitness we will be very strong indeed.

Optimistic signs? Defence improved with Hollis returning. Defensive midfield sounded better with Maguire and Wedgbury. But we have to remember with the bookies and the fans Maidenhead were almost universally expected to be in the bottom third of the league at best and we had to fight back to draw.

OR am I being totally unfair?

Yarney got the goal Dev. I thought we would have won that game before the match. The amount of shots and chances we created is unbelievable yet we couldn't capitalise on them. The only positive from that game is the fact we managed to gain point from a losing position. We can't afford to drop points to part-timers as it could become crucial at the end of the season as to where we finish in the league.

This division is so unpredictable and I think it's more difficult to predict than the Premier League. You have FC Halifax who are top after 2 games with 6pts from 6 and they were one of the favourites to go down but as it stands they could do a Macclesfield and end up in the League if they carry on with this great form. It does sound like Binnom-Williams is doing really well at FC Halifax.

I think we need another striker, possibly another midfielder.

This might sound crazy but do teams up there game when they play us?

Doesn't matter if they do Matt, we should be able to cope with it and after last season we should be prepared for it.
Our team doesnt have any pace and I include Rowley in that statement. We are very flat footed up front and if Shez's game plan was to rely on Denton to lob long balls up to for knockdowns, he must be desperate.
Any visitors to the Proact watching a replay of last Saturdays game will know that if they came and attack us we cant handle it. Maybe that bit wasnt in Shez's game plan but we had better be more prepared for it in the future.
It seems the Maidenhead goal was yet another free header. When will we learn?

I agree Dancing we should be able to cope and deal with yet we aren't. The tactic of lobbing long balls for Denton to knock down to Boden is something you would use on a pitch where it's boggy and where the ball won't run much. I think we need to start playing out from the back and keeping hold of position until we can find an opening to create a chance. We also need to close down players early on the ball so they can't pump aerial balls into the box.

We are away to Boreham Wood on Saturday and the worrying thing there is they scored 2 goals in 7 minutes to snatch a draw against Wrexham last night.

Surprisingly Matt I know who got the goal and he wouldn't have had the chance without Evans. We seem incredibly reliant on him at both ends of the field.

Look at what he did in the Ebbsfleet game last season, scored a late equaliser and saved a penalty.
