Hibs v Hearts - 26/10/14
#11
Hibs should have been out of sight by the time that goal was scored Lord Snooty - that kinda result can happen if one team is only one goal ahead but Hibs must have surprised quite a few Hibs fans with their slick passing and dominating play for the majority of this match - definitely good reasons to be optimistic and there are positive signs that Stubbs is piecing together a slick Hibs side - just gotta take more scoring chances when they crop up! The Wilson gaffe in the 1st half was typical of how Hibs let their opponents off the hook. It was baffling how Malonga never chipped in Cummings to score an easy goal! Also McGeouch really looks like an improving, effective midfield player (the best player on the pitch by miles!!), the same applies to Scott Allan - a pity he can't score enough goals because he certainly moves into some great forward positions. As for Hearts - a workmanlike young team and what's all the fuss about??? I think the biggest winner today was Rangers and as for Hibs, they just need to push on from the positive results that they've achieved in the past few weeks. They play Dundee United next week in a League Cup quarter-final - they'll probably lose that match but I'm sure this cup-tie will give Stubbs a good indication of how far Hibs have progressed since he was appointed as the new manager.

Looked to be a lot of empty seats there today. 14,562 doesn't seem like a big crowd for a big derby match like this. Are the Hibs fans really that disillusioned with what's been happening over the last few years?

I thought we were happy to let hibs play today and Neilsen wants a slap in the head for that we looked to hit on the break all first half and made it easy fir hibs to play,we play good attacking football but it wasn't there today and the best thing that happened for us was the sending off we played better with ten, what a strike though, hibs were really unlucky not to take all the points but I really hope Neilsen had a good look at that game

£28 for a match ticket Lord Snooty! Hearts are not worth that price and neither are Hibs!! As for disillusionment - yes, there are still lots of Hibs fans who are not impressed with the way the club is being managed, esp on the football side of things. Just watch how many fans attend next weeks quarter-final versus Dundee United. If Hibs keep improving on their form, and extend this unbeaten run, a reasonable number of Hibs fans will gradually return - its all about playing well on the pitch and restoring some faith to lots of sceptical Hibs fans who want to see some kinda resurgence in good fortunes in matches!

0762,
Are you 0-7 in disguise?.
Got to say your views pretty much echo mine and time will tell how accurate they are.
Hopefully the team have turned the corner in terms of confidence and are playing a brand of football not seen at Easter Road for ages. It bodes well for the rest of the season but Dundee United will be a real test of how far we`ve come.
Thumb up Wink

Have to agree Wattie, it looks like 0-7, just disnae sound like him as most of the spelling is ok. On seasons performances Hearts would be well worth the £28 ticket price, however, unfortunately today, the performance fell way below that valuation. That said, most good teams are allowed the odd off day and today, it was Hearts turn. Fair play to Hibs, better team overall but as often best team will not always win and done by a wonder strike. Bottom line is 7 point lead over Sevco at this stage is pretty pleasing IMO.

I thought it was a decent game today..good to see Stubbs is turning things round on the park...Scott Allan, David Gray, the laddie Fontaine and the keeper are good additions to the squad. Did Hibs deserve to win?? don't think so but neither did we. Ozturks goal was a peach, and Patersons tackle was a disgrace. All in all a good advert for 2nd tier football in Scotland I'd say
Sometimes right and sometimes wrong, but always certain  Thumb up

Of course Hibs deserved to win, maroon! Ozturk hit a beautiful strike, but on another day it would have been up in Row Z. I'm sure the swirling wind helped him!  Wink

Overall, I'm pleased with Hibs display, but as I said in the post #6, Hearts have a belief that they'll get something out of a game, and that's the true mark of champions. Today Hibs should have pegged back the 3 teams above them, but didn't - a case of deja vu here - and a lot of that is due to not scoring enough when we're on top.

As I said, we've nothing to fear from Hearts and we should be building a bit of belief in our own abilities.  Thumb up

Onwards and upwards for the Hibees. GGTTH
