You can't untangle the yellow

"Football Association chief Martin Glenn has apologised "for any offence" after comparing the Star of David with symbols such as the xxxx swastika.

Glenn was discussing Manchester City's Spanish manager Pep Guardiola, who has been wearing a yellow ribbon in support of imprisoned politicians in Catalonia.

He said "we don't want" the Jewish Star of David, swastika, or ex-Zimbabwe leader Robert Mugabe on a shirt.

The Jewish Leadership Council added the comparison was "in poor taste".

The Star of David is on Israel's flag, their national team shirt and FA logo."

The reason Glenn is getting himself in such trouble is he (and football in general) doesn't understand politics, doesn't begin to get that politics frames the world. The Star of David is both a religious and political symbol, as was the swastika, a symbol the xxxx stole. Many world flags contain political symbols, many have colours which represent political points of view or the political history of a country. These appear on football shirts and the flags themselves adorn tournaments around the world.

Pep is entitled to his views. He is entitled to express them silently or loudly during his many interviews. He is a human being and should be as free as you or me. If he is fined he should take his case to the European Court. Every manager at the 92 clubs should wear a yellow ribbon next week and if Gary Lineker can dress down to his pants, he could certainly wear a yellow ribbon on Match of the Day.

"Sport and politics don't mix," must be one of the greatest nodding-dog lies of all time. You ever heard of intarsia? It's a kind of knitting mingling colours. Sport and politics are intarsia, they are woven through each other, you can't untangle the yellow.

Cock?

That didn't come out like 4 asterisks.

A lot of people use Jeremy Hunt instead as rhyming slang for C U Next Tuesday. I once heard someone say don't be such a Clint.
