Well here's some more telly-tubby land club player value stats for you to ponder

Premier League this season

Championship this season



Championship last season



and for the benefit of our friends north of the border



So - 7 Championship clubs this season with a squad that is higher in value than ours. Newcastle have a lower value squad this season than last season, but it's still 2.5x the value of ours.

Not hard to see who the over achievers and under achievers are in either division.

Celtic trying to conquer Europe with a squad that is roughly the same value as ours. There's a few players I'd swap with them right now to be honest, not sure they'd agree with me though.

All in all chaps and chapesses, as my top avitar says - Enjoy it while it lasts - our chances of going up last season were apparently hall. Our chances of staying up this season won't even have the onions or mustard on that burger. But our chances aren't based on our squad value - even though that's what the bookies maybe base their odds on (roughly).

It all sounds very Nigel Clibbens does this...we're the poor relations of the division....we can't compete.

Nobody's using it as an excuse though. If we get relegated, fair enough, wheel these stats out. But at the moment, the team spirit, the will of the players, management, directors and supporters is priceless.

At what point did I say we can't compete? There are some on other forums questioning the ability of various club employees. Given the above they need to wind their necks in a bit. We shouldn't have been able to compete last season, but we did. We shouldn't be able to compete this year either, but we are by and large against those that matter. There's at least 4 teams below us who are likely very embarrassed that they are and all of them have changed their manager.
