Sporting Predictions 2025
So, er, I'm not quite sure how this is working. All my recent Imgur images are apparently working on this thread, but they aren't on P4P.

OK - looking back maybe not all of them, but some of them are. Last two pages any way.

Bovvered? Hand? Face?

Me neither - I'll move on.

RL Egg Chasing

Leigh have threatened to not turn up at Wigan because they don't agree with the ticket allocation. They were offered the choice of a side stand or an end stand. How may seats do they want? They aren't getting half the stadium and they wouldn't do it either if it was the other way round. Knobs. If they don't turn up, relegate them.

There's a bloke called Billing causing havoc at Forest again tonight. Go for it Phil Bill. Thumb up There's all manner of footy going on tonight but - hey, next season.

Over the Pond - MLB

After 2 games each - well you know what they are nearly all playing again tonight (might give you a clue) - update tomorrow or Monday but LA are through Thumb up Wonder who picked them?

F1 has been declared an officially hot sweaty race this weekend in Singapore and drivers will be allowed a few bags of ice in their overallls - or whatever they use as chill-packs. Teams are notified of the declaration by the FIA, as they have been in Singapore, and subsequently need to fit a ‘Driver Cooling System’. So, er yeah, a chilled six pack of the beer of their choice on their lap. What could possibly go wrong? Ring pulls don't work well with thick gloves? Changing tyres while going for a pee? Peeing on your tyres to keep them cool? This is F1 engineering, come on! You've got this.

FIM Speedway of Nations takes place this weekend as the Shale Shifters get as close to being rained off every night as they can be - no we aren't taking part this season, but maybe another one for next year.

To bore the steel shoed boots off those that don't give a damn ...
Poland’s six-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik is determined to deliver another golden night in Torun as he leads his side into the 2025 FIM Speedway of Nations Final on Saturday.

The starting line-ups for the sport’s ultimate test of team riding have been revealed as hosts Poland take on reigning FIM SON world champions Great Britain, plus Semi-Final 1 winners Sweden, Semi-Final 2 victors Australia, Czech Republic, Denmark and Latvia.

The six teams that progressed through Semi-Finals 1 and 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday all name unchanged starting line-ups, with Poland seeded straight through to the Final as hosts, and spearheaded by skipper Zmarzlik, who won a record-equalling sixth Speedway GP world title this season. He is partnered by new European champion Patryk Dudek and No.3 Piotr Pawlicki, a former FIM Speedway World Cup winner, who makes his FIM SON debut.

Elsewhere, it's getting towards the quiet end of the year so any feedback on what else you'd like including/dropping for next season it would be good to see. Moaning about all the sports you didn't score in will be checked, ignored and I'll probably look for a few more similar events just to annoy you. You have been warned. If anyone suggests Stricltly Come Dancing or All in Wrestling, grapple and groan well you can ............ forget it, Shirley. Is pro-celeb caber tossing a thing? Haggis drone shooting? I'm aware I maybe need to extend the options north of Hadrians Wall. Bog Snorkelling World Championships? Has that even happened with this summer's droughts? Tongue PS - Chasing cheese down a hill isn't considered difficult enough for this Prediction League. The same prat seems to win every year whether he breaks his leg or does his brain in.

It's him Snoots or the Government's charter to stop pervs posting things on line that kids can see (or far worse) - which apparently is also why you can't listen to Radio Local's podcasts/web wot-nots in furrin lands (or whatever) about Town unless you use a VPN. Er, Visually Protected Nosejob I think, in case you're asking. One of them masks players wear when the've had a face full of boot after stooping to head a ball.

Looks like the bastards are slowly catching up.

MLB Boys of Summer Update

The Wild Card games have been done and dusted. The 3 (if needed) games for each "conference" were played in the stadiums of the teams with the best records and Nooy Yark, Chicago, LA and Detroit are through. Detroit were the only side to win away. LA were the only side to win in two.

Everything now chugs up to 5 games in the Division Series, with the first two games at the club with the worst record and the last 3 (if all are needed) at the club with the best record for each pairing. So for example, Noo Yark host The Blow Jays for 2 games then they play the final 3 in Toronto. First to win 3 goes through so if either side wins the first 3 or 3 out of 4 games then it's feet up for a few days. How they work out these pairings is beyond me though given both The Blow Jays and The Yankees won more games than either Detroit or Seattle. Looks like they work it out from the Wild Card pairings.

Starting to get the hang of this freeimage thing. It's not as daft as it first seemed to be. You can get links for individual images. Glad I'm not doing this weekend's thread updates on my phone though.

Is the island of Easdale far enough north of Hadrian's Dyke? At 240 miles, it should be, so how about the World Stone Skimming Championships. A highly skilled athletic event, featuring supreme technical ability and great wrist action Whistle as well as deliberate cheating, disqualifications and an official called the Toss Master. Using these parameters, it definitely qualifies as a sport.

To be fair to our friends from Welsh Wales, what about World Championship Bog Snorkelling? They can blow their own trumpet on the veracity of this major sporting event, but it's well worth considering by the Grand Jury.

Anyway, I'm not sure about your content not being available in my (nether) region Tongue . My piles are giving me bother, so are you able to give me some advice (with diagrams if necessary)? Hope you've finished your tea. Angel

Bostin ower kid. Thumb up

You can't beat sports that are all about the wrist action ritchie. I'll try and find a link to the Battling Tops World Championships but don't be disappointed if I can't. Just about to start cooking a fish pie seeing as you asked ritchie. Mushy pays, tomatoes, carrots and some parsley sauce to add to my 5 a day. The other two involve hops and grapes.

What?

PS if your piles are really bothering you, put some of them to one side for a couple of weeks and then shred them. If nobody asked you about them for over a month they likely never will. Creams are available from Boots and other purvs that sell stuff for piles too if you Google it, but they just tend to make the pages stick to each other in my experience and then they really clog up the shredder. The last thing you need when you've got piles is an over-heating shredder.

Otherwise - have you considered a pile driver from the local builders merchants? Possibly availabe on Amazon or eBay, though I avoid eBay as the bastards keep scamming my credit cards.

Morrisons for the fish by the way. They call one of them Sea and the other Bream. I'm sure they told me they were the same when I bought them. Marketing eh?

In the simmering heat of Singapore, temperatures between the McLaren F1 boys nearly boiled over on the first couple of corners of the first lap as Norris, starting from 5th barged past his team mate Piastri to take 3rd place off him. Piastri didn't think it was fair but it's a few more points nibbled out of his lead for The World Championship. A little bit further down the order, Alonso's team took an agonising 9 seconds to change one of his wheels in the pits which dropped him out of the points at the time and a stream of sarcasm aimed at everyone that got in his way as he tried (and succeeded) to get back into the points. His chief mechanic on the pit wall got short shrift too. After time penalties to The Hamster for leaving the track too often (er, his brakes didn't really work for the last few laps but they've taken the penalty and move on) Alonso got back to 7th, where he was (more or less) before finding himself in 13th.

Points, points points.
When the chequered flag was finally waved, George Russell had gone lights to flag out in front with Crash not far behind him. The points for 3rd and 4th mean McLaren have wrapped up the Team Championship, so that means that AmChaff, SCO and SHEP pick up a point each and SHEP stretches his lead on 16 points.

In the mens RL Egg Chasing, Leigh eventually turned up at Wigan and lost and Hull KR beat St. Helens as teams in Red and White qualified for the Grand Final next weekend. So 5 of us are still in with half-a-shout, but we're all betting on Wigan.

The Shale Shifting on Saturday night was won by Australia, regaining the FIM Speedway of Nations crown in Toruń Poland.

Last year’s silver medalists Kurtz and Holder rode a masterful first lap to get the better of Poland‘s six-time Speedway GP world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik and Patryk Dudek to win the Grand Final at the Marian Rose Motoarena.

Holder and No.3 Jason Doyle collect their second FIM SON gold medals, following up their 2022 victory at Vojens, Denmark. Meanwhile, new world No.2 Brady Kurtz wins his first FIM Speedway World Championship - weeks after falling just short of Speedway GP World Championship gold by one point.

Poland came 2nd and Denmark 3rd.

FIM SPEEDWAY OF NATIONS FINAL SCORES:

1. AUSTRALIA 37: 1. Brady Kurtz 20, 2. Jack Holder 17, 3. Jason Doyle DNR.

2. POLAND 35: 1. Patryk Dudek 17, 2. Bartosz Zmarzlik 18, 3. Piotr Pawlicki DNR.

3. DENMARK 34: 1. Leon Madsen 18, 2. Michael Jepsen Jensen 16, 3. Mikkel Michelsen DNR.

4. SWEDEN 27: 1. Jacob Thorssell 6, 2. Fredrik Lindgren 21, 3. Timo Lahti DNR.

5. GREAT BRITAIN 24: 1. Robert Lambert 16, 2. Dan Bewley 6, 3. Tom Brennan 2.

6. LATVIA 18: 1. Andzejs Lebedevs 14, 2. Jevgenijs Kostigovs 0, 3. Daniils Kolodinskis 4.

7. CZECH REPUBLIC 14: 1. Vaclav Milik 2, 2. Jan Kvech 12, 3. Adam Bednar 0.

No points involved for us this season but another one on the post it notes for next year.

The Boys of Summer stuff is too early to call after only 1 or 2 games but both Milwaukee v Chicago (9-3) and Toronto v Noo Yark (10-1 and 13-7) gave their guests a bit of a shellacking. The Blue Jays have set a record for the number of runs in the first two play-off games and a club record number of strike-outs by a starting pitcher (11) and a club play-off record 5 home runs in the 2nd game. The other two games were a tad closer. I got my curve balls, sliders and fast balls all arse over apex previously. 1st 2 games are at the home of the side with the best record, next 2 away, final at home if required. Don't ask me to describe a "change up" pitch.

This weekend we've more points on offer as the RL Grand Final takes place at Old Trafford. If it rains we may get to see some of the now world famous Salford water features as well as some rugby. Wigan play Hull KR on Saturday. If The Robins win they take all 3 titles and all of us get didly squat from all the RL Egg Chasing predictions. If Wigan win it's pies all round for some of us. Mushy peas, mint sauce and gravy with mine please.

In the Rounders for Fat Blokes, The Blow Jays blew the Noo Yark Yankees away in 4 games, the last two in The Bronx in the American League. It could have been done and dusted in 3 but they blew a 6-1 lead to lose 9-6 in the third game. Deeetroit and Seattle play a decider tonight, being tied at 2-2. The winner plays at Toronto for the first two games of the AL Championship. In the National League, The Dodgers came up with a similar 3-1 win over the Phillies and the Cubbies and the Brewers are also tied 2-2. Their final decider will be played tomorrow and the winners will also have home field advantage.

The FIM have announced the 15 main riders for next seasons Speedway Grand Prix. 7 had qualified from their positions this season and 5 from winning other National/European Championships. 3 wild cards were also handed out including one to Tai "Wolfy" Woffinden, who has hardly raced this season. He had a horrrendous crash at the start of the season which broke more than just a few of his bones and saw him in an induced coma in hospital for a while.

The 16th rider and reserves for each meeting are announced prior to each meeting.

World Cup Qualifiers and friendly games are taking place in order to get a place at next years Soccaball World Final Series. Tuchel is already getting touchy about the fans, and his perceived lack of atmosphere, at Wemberlee. This won't end well. You'd have thought by now he'd have worked out that he picks the team and the tactics, not the fans. It was a friendly that was done and dusted in 15 minutes. Was he expecting another 75 minutes of conga's in the stands while nothing much else happened on the pitch?

7 of the 12 original games scheduled for Saturday in League One will take place - none include Yorksha League fixtures.

In the NHL, the Pond Hockey has started again this week in the never ending quest for Lord Stanley's Shaving Mug. As is typical of North American sports they don't keep things simple. So you have a Western Conference and an Eastern Conference. That's all fairly straightforward. Then In the Western Conference you have a Pacific and a Central Division, and looking at the teams in each it more or less makes sense but then you go to the Eastern Conference ... Doh. There's an Atlantic Division and something called the Metropolitan Division. How they drew lots for this beggars belief. There's more teams that are from cities on the Atlantic Coast in the Metropolitan Division than there are in the Atlantic Division. Only in America can they screw up a sport that started in Canada.

Of course it was going to go down to the wire with the Cubbies!! If they win the decider, then as a fan of theirs I will be rooting for them but I picked the Dodgers to win it on here, so I will win a bit either way!!!

Well the red, red Robins went bob, bob, bobbing along at Old Trafford on Saturday in the Egg Chasing Super League Final. After Wigan missed two gifts including dropping the ball over the line (pathetic attempt at a touch down, hell, they teach you how to do that properly ther first day you train in any form of the game as a kid at school), Hull KR put points on the board and never looked back. Well done to them on getting the full house after going donkey's years since they won anything, but it means blanks all round for us again. We might all need to fall in love with Yorksha teams again next season.

In the Fat Blokes Rounders, Seattle beat Deeeetroit 3-2, but it took them 15 innings to do it instead of 9. Then they went to Torronno and won the first game 3-1. The Blow Jays bats never really fired for once. The Brewers beat the Cubbies 3-1 without too much drama, SCO won't be a happy puppy, and they pitch up at home to the Dodgers this evening.

Think I'm reading this correctly, Scotland 2-1 Belarus, Scotland 3-1 Greece. When was the last time they won two on the bounce? Oh my word, it's three. Steady on chaps, you might qualify again at this rate. Palpitations all round at Hampden Park. Norn Iron go for three on the bounce tonight too. The're only playing Germany, so no sweat there.

In the Canadian Egg Chasing, with a couple of games to play Edmonton or Winnipeg could take Torronno's place in the play-offs as they have a better record. It's how it works.

So, no change in the standings this weekend.
