KENNY MILLER JOINS TOWN AS ASSISTANT COACH!

An addition to Mark Fotheringham’s backroom staff

- Kenny Miller joins Huddersfield Town’s Technical Staff
- 42-year-old Scotsman takes Assistant Coach role
- Paul Harsley has departed his role at the Club

We’re delighted to welcome Kenny Miller to Huddersfield Town, who has joined Mark Fotheringham’s staff as Assistant Coach!

Miller, 42, has already started work under our Head Coach, alongside fellow Assistant Coach Narcís Pèlach and the rest of the technical staff, at the Millers Oils High Performance Complex this week.

Born in Edinburgh, Miller had a fantastic playing career, both at domestic and international level.

He scored 18 goals for Scotland, was a four-time winner of the Scottish Premier League with Rangers and Celtic, was a two-time Scottish Cup winner, and won Scottish League Cup and Challenge Cup. He had success in England too, as part of the Cardiff City side that were runners-up in the League Cup and in helping Wolves to gain promotion to the Premier League.

Miller also has experience from playing overseas for Bursaspor in Turkey and Vancouver Whitecaps in Canada.

Having coached the Rangers Under-20 side whilst playing for the First Team, Miller moved into coaching upon his retirement.

Following a short stint as Player-Manager of Livingston in 2018, he moved to Australia and was assistant to Carl Robinson and Newcastle Jets and Western Sydney Wanderers. He moved back home to become Assistant Head Coach, and then caretaker boss, of Scottish League One side Falkirk last season.

Head Coach Mark Fotheringham explained:

“We spent two-and-a-half years together on the UEFA Pro License course and it became immediately clear that it was his work ethic that made him such a success as a player, and as a coach.

“Kenny has a winning mentality, which comes from living and breathing football at the highest level. It’s great to have him here in the building, and for our players to benefit from the knowledge and expertise he can offer.

“Not only is he a top coach, but he’s also a fantastic family man. I think that fits the ethos of the Club perfectly.”

In a simultaneous move, Paul Harsley has departed his role as Assistant Coach. Everyone at Huddersfield Town would like to thank Paul for his contribution this season and wishes him the very best for the future.

i'm not against this, he obviously knows Fotheringham and vice versa which can only be a good thing, they'll probably see eye to eye on things, I'd guess Fotheringham and Harsley didn't and that would only end one way, I'd guess it was nothing personal, its just the industry.

I'd say it maybe gives the coaching staff more balance, Fotheringham as head coach has to cover a lot of bases, Clement and Bower cover the goalkeeping and fitness side, I believe Narcis is a more defence orientated and set piece driven coach, Miller being an ex striker probably has something to offer in the final third in way of coaching, helping with things like movement on and off the ball, something we've been lacking, it wouldn't surprise me if he's come in with the sole aim of working with the forward players and that to me can only be a good thing.

We scored a lot of goals last time we did something like this, bringing Andy Cole in under Lee Clark for a spell to work with Rhodes et al

Miller is a professional moaner and he's been around a few clubs in his time, which might be ideal for Town. At least Scottish viewers will be spared his pronouncements on BBC One Scotland on the Premiership games.
