IMO, we acted swiftly and in the nick of time getting TP, Redknapp, Bruce and Lambert could be on borrowed time and looking for someone just like him in the very near future

And now its the 5th - so maybe we will see more surprises, I wonder what they will be, meaning who will be released, and who sold. Also any backroom lads?
BBB Seems I got the backroom boys right - as wanted by most of us, particularly me whose been screaming for their dismissal doe over a YEAR now. Anyone not pleased?

Agree with bomberbrown1968, especially in Paul Lambert's case. Villa have got to start winning PL games or he'll be gone. Neil Warnock's waiting in the wings - how great would that be, Warnock at Villa!

I'm sure most have seen TP being interviewed after yesterday's (Hull) game where he was talking about clubs becoming complacent and switching off, thinking they had almost a 'God-given right' to remain in the Premier League.
Obviously without actually saying the words, he was including us in that company. Spot on, Tony! When you look back we have been stagnating since the first 2 months of Steve Clarke, and we WERE going to go down this year. It must've been a very interesting meeting between JP & TP when this was first discussed as (I'm guessing) that it was TP that made JP realise this, and that TP was one of the few options left to safeguard our position in the PL. Fair play to JP for having the sense to recognise what was happening and to do something as radical as he has. I know that we're by no means safe yet but we've been given the best chance of survival, IMO, with this appointment which will be a whole new fresh start for the club and the start of a REAL new era. EXACTLY what we needed! ![]() ![]()

Some days I'm top dog, most days I'm just the lamp post.

Just love it.

Why has this taken so long?
It's been torture watching untried 'managers' come and go, knowing (as we all did) they stood little chance of succeeding. I'm not saying they (including the back-room staff) didn't try their hardest for the club but this fresh sweep is what we needed what ever happens. TP may not be the messiah but it seems like JP is finally getting the reality check he's needed and it required a Pulis-type to do it. As Stairs said: Just love it
I can go a step higher than Aston Villa

My personal stance on Managers (Head Coaches) is that their perceived effect on team performance is much greater than their actual effect.
Examine, for a moment, what they do and what they can get away with once they are appointed. They pick the team, select substitutes, and listen to the opinions of their staff regarding training. They spend an inordinate amount of time with the media/owners/agents and generally giving the impression that the club is their creation. Any average person could do this job. Your main qualifications are luck, a thick-skin, and being a verbal bully when required. Any seasoned squad player will have seen dozens of these “Managers” and grown skeptical of them all. They know that the two words “Yes Boss” are the only words required and the rest is down to them trying their best out on the pitch as they always do regardless of who is “in charge”. So TP,AI,RDM,RH or whatever initials we currently have, it makes little difference to me; but if you think it does, that’s your belief. |
